Season 5 Spoilers on Episode 2 ~ Reunions & New Character Intro

We never get tired of hearing how (effing) amazing The Walking Dead Season 5 premiere is going to be. It\'s been called "epic, intimate, emotional, insane," and one of the biggest, most intense and stunt-heavy episodes they\'ve ever done, with tons of answers about Terminus.

One other tease about the October 12 premiere was that "there\'s a very special surprise at the end." Some fans think that\'s a hint to a family reunion — with Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and baby Judith reuniting with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company at the very end of the hour. That would be amazing, and it could possibly tie into these new spoilers from SFX Magazine.

A Spoil the Dead member posted intel from the hard copy of SFX’s November issue, which has a spread on TWD. The story includes a detailed set report from day three of shooting Season 5, Episode 2 at Raleigh Studios in Senoia, Georgia. David Boyd appears to be directing the Sunday, October 19 episode. SFX’s set rundown starts with walkers surrounding “a young African American man wearing the white collar and black shirt of a priest.” Sounds like new character Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam), right?

The report continues, saying the priest kicks at the walkers and screams for help. What happens next, according to the

report, is a big spoiler on when the group gets out of Terminus and when they reunite with Carol.

“From out of the forest tears what at first looks like a platoon of infantrymen. But as the brush clears, their faces grow familiar- Rick Grimes, his son Carl, Daryl Dixon, Maggie Greene, Glenn Rhee, Michonne, Carol Peletier. In a heartbeat, they envelop the walkers, Rick grabs one, slams its head against the boulder, and throws it to the ground. Carol drives her knife through the skull of another. Michonne hits hers twice in the back of its head with the butt of a rifle, then a third time after it drops. The threat eliminated, Glenn shouts ‘are we good?’. After scanning for more walkers Rick replies ‘Yeah’. He looks up at the terrified man and offers him his hand.”

So it sounds like Carol reunites with Rick and this group by Episode 2, they are together in the forest and this is how they meet Father Gabriel. Where are Judith, Tyreese, Tara, Sasha, Bob, Abraham, Eugene and Rosita at this point? No idea. Maybe closeby in the woods, maybe not. (You can see Ty, Rosita, Sasha, Eugene, etc. in the photo above, from the Comic-Con trailer, whenever that scene happens.) But at least Carol appears to find her way to this group, which suggests Rick at least knows Judith is alive.

Anyway, if this set rundown does correspond with how things play out on Episode 2, it suggests Episode 1 will indeed include the big Terminus escape. Signs were pointing in that direction anyway, but wow — escape, reunion, splitting up, hitting the forest and meeting a new major character all in just two episodes! And this is just a tiny glimpse of Ep 2.
