The Walking Dead: ZERO cast nominations at the 2015 Emmys

There was some hope that season 5 of The Walking Dead would finally turn critics on to the hit AMC zombie survival drama.  It had plenty of emotional moments combined with great action sequences that should have make organizations take notice of the adventurous direction the show took.  However, the folks who decided the nominees for the 2015 Emmy Awards must not have thought so.

Today, the list of nominees was released and listed on the official Emmy website and number of times that The Walking Dead’s cast were recognized is a bit insulting.

ZERO.  Zero nominations for The Walking Dead’s actors and actresses.

How does this happen?  HBO’s Game of Thrones received 24 total nominations.  Twenty-four!  Even FX show American Horror Story: Freak Show was able to net 19 total nominations.   So, what separates these shows from The Walking Dead?

I’m not absolutely sure.  And neither are many fans of The Walking Dead.  In fact, there are a huge number of people who are behind grass-roots campaigns for actress Melissa McBride to be not only nominated for an Emmy award, but to take one home.

Sadly, it appears as though the trend of The Walking Dead being disrespected by the major awards shows will continue.  And even though the actors from the program will not be represented during the 2015 Emmy Awards,  there is very little doubt that The Walking Dead will remain one of the most popular shows on television.

Popularity doesn’t translate into Emmy wins or even nominations.  When awards that are chosen by fans, such as the People Choice Awards come around, we’ll be much more likely to see nominations and probably some wins for the actors and actresses from AMC’s The Walking Dead.

Fans of The Walking Dead shouldn’t be disappointed by the show not getting any Emmy nominations though.  Ignoring AMC’s The Walking Dead has seemingly become a tradition of this popular awards show that will probably not have many zombie fans tuning in.
