Gwen swallowed. Sick rose in her stomach and she fought to keep it down. Her nerves were getting the better of her. She couldn't let that happen. It wasn't the way to win.

Gwen looked at Duncan for comfort. He flashed her a sympathetic smile but it wavered with fear. Courtney glared at Gwen and readied herself, eyes set fully on a gleaming dagger. She'd go straight in for the kill. Gwen was first.

In the dying second, Gwen placed three fingers to her lips and held them up. She knew she'd die and she wanted to create a farewell scene in District 12. Duncan shook his head and copied the action.

The claxon sounded menacing as it rang through the trees. All was still for a moment.

Gwen jumped, she fled from the platform in fright and neared a bag of supplies. Beside lay a pristine silver bow with arrows. Her mind wandered for a moment....
A shrill scream alerted her to the reality of the situation. Grabbing the bag, Gwen spun round.
Courtney was upon her, eyes wide and hands bloody. Duncan watched from the undergrowth fir his team mate to kom bij him...
Blood spurted from Gwen's shoulder where Courtney had plunged the dagger. Hatred filled Courtney's eyes and Gwen cried out in pain.
Duncan began to panic. He hadn't grabbed anything to defend himself let alone Gwen. Blood stained the gras as Courtney yanked the dagger from Gwen's shoulder. Gwen was struggling now. She was dying ...
