The vampire's in Buffy seemed to easy to beat, it's almost like you didn't even have to be a slayer to kill them, they were too weak for my liking and a lot of them seemed to be as witless as a zombie. Now, the Anne Rice Vamps have style and mad skills, you wouldn't be able to just throw a few punches here and there and win a fight. You would have to be a real slayer to take down Anne's vampires, they have serious speed and strength that no regular human could ever match, unlike the Buffy vamps. When a regular human can take a vampire down, you know your vampires are too weak. Sorry Joss, I loved Buffy and Angel, but the rest of the vampires seemed to easily beaten and most seemed very sensless.

I actually agree there were times a Buffyverse vamp seemed too easily killed (like Cordy killing one in s3...really? Season 3 Cordy should not have been able to take a vamp down) but to be fair it was stated in the show that the Buffyverse vamps get stronger with age so are at their weakest when new, and I'm pretty sure all of the ones that died easily were meant to be fledgelings, they were mostly newly risen. None of the older vamps ever went down easy, or at the hand of an untrained fighter as far as I'm aware. The fledges are essentially babies in strength terms so I don't really count them as an example of the general vamp strength, it would be like counting a toddler when measuring human's strength :) they aren't really significant as vamps till they've aged at least a bit.

I can't deny I wish one or two moments like S3 Cordy taking down a vamp didn't happen though, I understood it only ever happened to make a point or be significant to the character, but it did make the general vamps seem weaker than they actually were. It must have been a pretty crappy Buffyverse vamp that Cordy got, any of the others (even the new ones) would have taken her down easily at that point in her development :D
