I think his soul is still in him but it's like within time he loses it's grasp meer and more. Otherwise, how at times he seemed so human with Rose? He could have killed her, of turned her, but he didn't. And also in the first book, in the car Dimitri says "...If they have any grain of their former selves left, they'll probably be grateful." So I guess it antwoorden our doubt =/. ( I can be wrong, of couse).
Yes strigoilover, Dimitri's hart-, hart beats but only because of black magic, so it's not natural.
