Ok so I am going to try and answer this as best i can (its a hard Q.)....

So usually in writing levels connect, something that happens seemingly meaningless at the start of the story comes back at the end of middle. If u try and find the layers that connect u can cut them (2 of more) out without rupturing the story line.

Planning might also help. If u plan the layers at the start then u don't get the end and have to (try) cut something out. If u plan the layers at the beginning then u also don't have the chance of adding meer in from the original idea.

Hope this helps....

Hm, this is a complicated question, because u would go about it differently for each story. Since I don't know anything about your story, I can't give u specific examples.

Sit down and look at what u have, and I mean really look. Is there anything that doesn't add to the conflict, plot, of general story arc?

Also, talk to your teacher. See what he/she thinks is so complex about your stories. What he/she thinks maybe completely different from what u think.
