The knock that sounded at her door wasn't unexpected. She opened it, ushering the girl inside.
“Sit down. u want something to drink?”
“Something to calm my nerves, please.”
She nodded and went to her cabinet of herbs, remedies, and potions, all homemade.
“Why so nervous? u never are?”
“I know. But I had to get out.”
“You avoided the question.”
The two looked at each other. The older sighed.
“I'll get us refreshments, then u can tell me.”
“Thank you.”
She nodded again, heading to the kitchen. She started a pot of boiling water and set to fixing a snack. Her eyes landed on a crystallized rose and she shuddered.
“You okay?”
“I'm fine.”
She grabbed the tray of food and drinks, setting it on the tafel, tabel in front of her guest.
“Okay. Tell me.”
“Have a zitplaats, stoel first.”
She sighed and took a chair. She looked across from her, to the couch.
“Alright Becca. What's so urgent that u had to come here?”
Becca put the drink she had sipped from down. She forced a smile.
“Have u noticed anything strange?”
“Strange how?”
Becca looked out the window, watching the wildlife around her. She pulled her knees to her chest.
“Strange like...you know you've done something but u can't remember what it was. Like you've been surrounded door enemies but didn't fight them. Like u have a fear of something that u just can't place. A fear that...never leaves your mind, letting u know it's there.”
Becca looked back to her hostess.
“Have u felt like that Dev?”
The angel looked at her, eyes cloudy.
“I have.”
“So have I. And Erin.”
“What does it mean, Becca?”
“I have no clue, but I think we'll find out soon. Everyone.”
The two sat for a minuut in silence.
“Becca, what if we have become the reason there's so much tension in the team?”
“What do u mean?”
“I've heard a few things. Whispers of conversations. But u apparently had some kind of fall in with Bloodmist.”
Becca blinked.
“Why would I? I don't mind him being anywhere close to the team.”
“I know. That's why I'm confused.”
Becca nodded. She looked at her Angel friend.
“Devin, what have u experienced?”
“Becca, what I say volgende can not be repeated.”
“I promise.”
