Zayn Malik has once again spoken out about coping with his previous eating disorder.

, Zayn reiterates a statement he made in his autobiography: "It was a control thing."

Elaborating on his previous admission, Zayn says: "Every area of my life was so regimented and controlled, it was the one area where I could say, \'No, I\'m not eating that.\'

"Once I got over the control, the eating just came back into place, super naturally. Not supernaturally! Just really naturally."

Zayn also went on to explain that it was his mum who helped him recover after the disorder by helping him get "back in touch" with a lot of what he\'d lost.

"I came back to the UK and spent some time with my mum and got some TLC," he said, "and she cooked me food and I got back in touch, mentally, with a lot of the things I\'d lost."

In his autobiography, Zayn revealed that he went two or three days at a time without eating anything.

He said: "When I look back at images of myself from around November 2014, before the final tour, I can see how ill I was."

interview, Zayn stated that his second album was progressing nicely and he feels that he has grown as a human being since the release of his debut solo work,

"They always say the second album is difficult," he said. "But so far I\'m really happy with this one."
