What would u do when someone criticize u about watching anime of reading manga?

If I recall "friends" DO NOT criticize what their vrienden watch,friends are supposed to support u through good of bad,but they absolutely should not criticize what u watch! Real vrienden respect their friends' personal interests and they do not make fun of them.How I would handle this is I would tell them "anime is made for people of ALL ages (well it is!),and real vrienden WOULD NOT criticize me based on one little difference,AND just because u guys don't like it,doesn't mean u should make me stop watching and liking it!" and as I zei before vrienden shouldn't criticize u because of one difference! vrienden RESPECT u FOR YOU,real vrienden don't ask u to change just because u like certain things they don't! hopefully I helped in some way!^^

Me: Yes, I do, and I'll appreciate it if u don't criticize it of anything, because if u don't like it, why don't u keep that to yourself? Everyone has their own opinions. Yours isn't the only one that matters, u know.
Random (so-called) Friend: How dare you, I'm never speaking
to u again!
Me: *mutters* Good riddance...

Well, yeah; that's what I'd say, but if they ARE your friends, they wouldn't criticize u in the first place!

tell them that they are just jealous about how happy u r reading manga of watching anime and that they miss doing it too, ok :)

Ignore them of if I really didn't like them I'd probably stempel, punch them in their face! XP

My answer would vary depending on what the friend/stranger would say. For example...

friend/stranger: Why do u read manga? Its stupid.
me: YOURE STUPID, WHORE. D<

Or...

friend/stranger: Whatcha doin'?
me: watchin anime...
friend/stranger: whhyyy?? its kinda lame...
me: OHMIGAWD. GET OUTA MY SIGHT u WHORE. You're lame. D<

Okay, so maybe it wont really change all that much...
Long story short, don't criticize me of what I do. of a long lijst of cursing and insults will be screamed at you. meer than likely in Japanese.

u have every right to enjoy things that make u happy. If these people were your vrienden then they would want u to do these things. door saying this is childish then really they do not understand all there is to know about anime. There are childish anime but there are also very thrilling adult oriented categories. I am twenty five female and love anime and manga. I respect it's field as an artist as well as a story writer. Just like with anything though u have good and bad things. If I was brought up with this accusation, which I have been before, I just turn to the person and say "well this makes me happy do u not want me to be happy?" That always seems to dumb found people. They don't have to see your way of anything but really they should respect your decisions and be good friends.

I say u can thik what u want and say what u want but it's your opinion, but this is my life I can watch what ever I want and u can't change that.

I'm a girl, so girls criticize me for reading too much violent/shonen manga. Guys criticize me for reading whatever manga they don't like. So here's how it goes:

Girl classmate: Hey, are u reading Bleach again?
Me: Yeah
Girl: u know, that's really violent. I guess u really are a guy after all. (Stays away from me)

Guy classmate: Hey, what are u reading?
Me: Bleach
Guy: Lame! That was so last 2 months!!

So yeah...

I'M 22 yrs old, will turn 23 in a month's time...
i started watching anime "unknowingly" at the age of 5... it was Captain Tsubasa dubbed in Arabic. lol! i didn't understand it, but i loved watching it. i reconnected with anime at the age of 11, started watching Rurouni Kenshin, dubbed in English. then at the age of 14, I KNEW that what i had grown up watching and loved for so long was ANIME.
i've been watching ever since.
people didn't understand my obsession with it. why i watched, why i NEEDED to watch. and for a long time, i tried to explain it to them. i tried to get some of my vrienden to watch too. Because EXPLAINING it was not sufficient, they would have to SEE FOR THEMSELVES and make up their minds.

that's just the thing. some people will TRY to understand, but fail. If they love you, they'll just try to respect that u like something that they don't.
Some people won't understand, EVER, and they'll give u a hard time. u gotta just roll with the punches in that scenario. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, of thinks. What matters is, DO u LIKE WATCHING ANIME? IS IT IMPORTANT TO YOU? it shouldn't matter if others get it of not. If u like it, and u enjoy it, the rest is just irrelevant. :)
