A simple, humble character beschrijving from the movie we all know and love.

ADAM MAITLAND: One of the main protagonists in the film, Adam Maitland starts out as a normal, childless, married man. Due to a fatal car accident, he and his wife are doomed to roam their new (and last) house for eternity as ghosts. He's a kind, loving man, with obviously some artistic skill which he proved when we see that cool little scale model he built of the entire town.

BARBRA MAITLAND: Adam's wife, who, in the end, is ultimately responsible for saving the day, is also a kind, loving person, with sweet 80's hair.

DELIA DEETZ: The artsy, opinionated new owner of the late Maitland's home. She apparantly attempts to make a career in sculpting, but it becomes clear as soom as she starts bringing her 'masterpieces' into the house, that she really has no skill for it whatsoever. She immediately starts planning modern changes to the house, much to the dismay of the Maitlands, who are now invisible to the living.

LYDIA DEETZ: Although her age is unspecified, the gothic, depressed step-daughter of Delia seems to be in her very early teens (correct me if I'm wrong). She's definitely got the most tricked-out hairstyle of them all, almost defying gravity. She's the only one who can see the Maitlands, claiming that she can see the strange and unusual because she herself is strange and unusual. Lydia seems to have an interest in photography, her darkroom having been mentioned and the fact that she almost always carries a camera with her. Despite looking kind of creepy, Lydia is a good soul who is simply rejected door her fellow living. At one point in the film, she is shown drafting a suicide note for her parents. (She never actually commits suicide)

CHARLES DEETZ: This peace-loving and quiet man is almost a comical contrast to his loud, obnoxious wife. He prefers birdwatching to sports, and cringes at the thought of what Delia will turn the house into. Although his opinion on the house is clear, Charles Deetz is not a very assertive man, and if the start of an argument arises, he bows out.

OTHO: An obviously self-proclaimed decorator and later on, a supposed paranormal expert. While he is of questionable origons, he's apparantly a family friend of the Deetz's. of at least Delia anyway. Near the end of the movie, he preforms an exorcism on the house, an unfortunate turn for the Maitlands.

BEETLEJUICE/BETELGUISE: A loud, smelly bio-excorcist, claiming to be able to get rid of the living - for a price. He starts out trapped in the scale model of the town in the attic. The Maitlands decide they're completely fed up with the Deetz's and call his name three times, hurtling them into the scale model's graveyard with beetlejuice. He agrees to help them, but soon they realize his methods are anything but subtle. He terrorizes the Deetz family door turning into a hideous snake-like creature with an ugly, disfigured head. A rather adult feature in the movie, is his advances towards young Lydia. Near the end, in exchange for the Maitland's safety, she reluctantly agrees to marry him, and just before the marriage is final, Barbra bursts through the house riding a sandworm. The sandworm swallows Beetlejuice and carries him away. Although Beetlejuice is the antagonist of the movie, most fans like him the best with his raunchy sense of humor and all around grossness. He almost even succeeded in trademarking the phrase 'It's showtime!', one of the most famous quotes from the movie.

JUNO: The Maitland's caseworker, an old female ghost with a slit in her throat. She's constantly smoking, making smoke blow out the slit as well as her mouth. Quite honestly, it sort of looks funny. According to her, she and beetlejuice had once been partners, but due to his rougish ways, they separated, and are now enemies. She warns the Maitlands against him and says he's nothing but trouble. She's right.
Michael Keaton's brilliant rule for reprising his titel role in 2024's Beetlejuice 2 also highlights where his last movie with Tim burton went wrong.

I thought after watching the movie beetlejuice i should give a review on it so here i go...

Beetlejuice is a Tim burton classic set in the house of a young married couple.Adam and Barbra hope to have a child someday. In a tragic accident they are killed and are confined to the house.
A family buy the house and start rearranging everything this means its WAR!! Adam and Barbra are'nt able to scare them out so they need a bio-excorsist....

Personally i loved the film because of its witty, dark humour. Winona Ryder was superb! The 17 jaar old steals the toon with her performance. Michael Keaton is also fantastic with his one-liners and grins. But no matter what i think the true ster is Tim burton producing such a wonderful film. He is a genius with his contrast work and he has never faltered
