My View On Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) +Good Pics

Now we all know the same old, same old about Aurora and...not a lot of people like her personality, but I think we can all agree she's beautiful, has awesome hair, sings beautifully, and all that...but the personality...isn't a good thing among most fanpoppers. Here I will be putting in my Opinion, and making some true's into false's (or reverse) Now, let's begin!!!!

Fact 1
Aurora only has less than 19 minuten of sreentime.

Now I watched the entire movie, and paused, and put in the difference with her timing, and every scene where u can see her face and/or body. After all the calculating the answer came as 23 minuten after AN HOUR.

P.S I did that because I was lazy, and it's night since i'm doing this :P

So as case for this "fact" is ended will be known as FALSE.

That's probably the only "fact" that gives a good reason for Aurora's "bland" personality.

Personality:
Now, for everyone in this spot who thinks they are a "true" disney princess fan the answer this question...did u ever read the REAL version of the stories of these princesses?

Mulan's story is close to the real version so that's acceptable,
Pocahontas's u may have learnt in some school in America (i'm from Canada),
Tiana doesn't have one,
Cinderella's matters half (but you've probably read it),
I doubt you've read Aladdin from the "One Thousand and One Nights",
Belle's true version only has the slight difference of having stepsisters who tell her to stay home pagina because they "missed" her (and eventually wanted the beast to come home pagina and eat Belle, but Belle quickly went to Beast after a week, bla bla bla),
the original story of jachthaven, marina instead of Ariel actually dies in the end,
Snow White (the original) is actually pretty bloody,
Rapunzel...I don't think u should read the original (too much...adult things...)

Now let's go to Aurora. Have u read PERRAULT'S version of the Brothers Grimm? I understand if u think that Disney made Aurora have a bland personality but if u mean Sleeping Beauty alone...then...i'm sorry. I think door being an expert on fairytales...your meer an expert on Disney Princesses.

In Perrault's version Sleeping Beauty has quite a personality. There were seven fairies who some divided her personality; others created her on the outside.

The youngest giving her the gift of being the most beautiful person in the world,
the volgende she should have the temper of an angel,
the third said, she shall do everything with everlasting grace,
the fourth told that she would forever dance with perfection,
the fifth saying she shall sing like a nightingale,
the sixth saying she shall play every kind of muziek with the utmost skill.

The seventh (being the oldest) zei she'll die and bla bla bla, and the youngest zei she'll also give her a solution.

NOW, in the story I read from Usborne (yes I even still read fairytales today...) zei that she was quite the drawer...uhuh...RIGHT BRAINED.
I think we all can find out meer of her personality from this,
Right brained people: are smart, have a chance of death being closer than for left brained people since theres only 17% of them in the world!

Except for this one.

Relation: Sleeping Beauty was going to die in her sleep...well she wasn't going to be awaken...
but in a lot of realistic medical issues theres a solution and the youngest fairy gave her a solution. Do u see the relation?

Since we already know a lot about her coming from the gifts...the last is the part of the line that the Prince gave to SLEEPING BEAUTY, after she woke up...
"He declared that he loved her better than he loved himself."...wow. That was...a bit arrogant don't u think? Well she thought to herself that he was nervous so she forgave him. This kinda tells us that...she's pretty behaved. Except for the fact that she cries when the 3 fairies tell AURORA that she can't visit Phillip anymore.

Do u know what i'm doing? I'm putting both personalities together, but in the right way. Like whatever Disney says Aurora may have not done in SLEEPING BEAUTY's personality, but is likely to happen in Aurora's personality is added as one personality. Let's verplaats on to my view,

Based on the personality i've made...i'm pretty sure back then Aurora was pretty populair and wasn't so bland. She still my top, boven at the prettiest disney princesses but still bottom at my favorites. Still...an angel but meer as a human...may not be my favoriete disney princess. But it's a great thing to know meer about her know. If u still don't know what her personality is like take it like this:

-Gullible
-Drama Queen
-Loves the Performing Arts
-Angelic
-Love fanatic
-Forgives easily (depending on the person)
-She's right brained (well it seems so)
...and that's about it.

So although in the end we didn't really discover a lot...I learned a bit about her didn't you?

PrincessAyeka12 I seem to remember reading the original. I definitely remember more than three fairies at the birth but I thought there was more than seven - maybe ten in one of the version?, sleeping for a hundred years and many princes trying to cut through the thorns into the castle - failing, except for one prince who got through. I can't remember anything else because it was so long ago when I or my mum read it last. But I do remember each fairy had a gift to give. Disney's Sleeping Beauty sends me to sleep. I like Philip for his naughty streak and Aurora for her sharp edged striking outer beauty in princess dress and eyes. And of course she has traditional looking princess style hair. I also like her voice but I can't stand her singing, it's too strong to match her voice which is more gentle sounding and ethereally musical like the elves in LOTRs.

hajirah4 Yeah it actually was like that then I think it went normally as it was except a rose kept telling the prince's conscience to go to aurora. And there were no dragons and whatnot and they lived happily ever after. I never knew any body who didn't like her voice so it's good to know a person has different taste!

Swanpride I don't really follow your logic there.... Either way, while Disney nominally went for the perrault version, they are actually much closer to the Grimm version, since this one ends with Sleeping Beauty waking up, while the perrault version has the whole "getting pregnant while asleep and then abandonned part" added to it. The Disney version is a very free interpretation, with the dragon and Phillip meeting Auroro added in. And fairy tales in general (real ones, not the ones which actually have an author) are always not about personalities, they are about archetypes.

Person: Yeah it's likely for Aurora to have that characteristic, but Disney didn't add that to her personality. __________________________________________________________________________________ So what I did was I added something LIKELY to Aurora's personality. Like ...i'm adding something with a high rate that Aurora WOULD have, but doesn't. Yes I know Perrault's version, but just like Rapunzel, it had a lot of ...adult things...and I didn't wanna scare the readers :P And what do you mean about archetypes? Do you mean based on what a person would do in reality and making the story as a warning? Because archetypes are like prototypes of something (example: the mother, the father, the child) Who is Aurora? ________________________ But I was talking about Sleeping Beauty (the character from the story in general) And Aurora (the character in Disney) and tried to bring the two characters together.

Jessikaroo I think Aurora has personality. It's very subtle and I like it. She's a dreamy romantic, and yes a bit of a drama queen. But there's bad things about the other princesses. First of all, Mulan is extremely popular. She has a very subtle personality too. Whenever I ask people to tell me why they like Mulan, the answer is always, "Well, she's smart and brave." What else? Plus assumptions must be made, like they are always made with the other princesses. Aurora has been in the woods her whole life, with the fairies intention she never meets any one for the fear of Maleficent finding her. She's spent her life with animals and her three kind aunts. She doesn't have to have a big personality like Jasmine or Ariel. So she doesn't. What could happen in the woods that would make her loud and brash and bold? When she's surrounded by kindness and love. Jasmine had a similar upbringing, only knowing her father, the workers in the castle, Rajah and all the brain dead suitors that came her way. But unlike Jasmine, Aurora has never had pressure or the threat of marriage until she discovers she's a princess. She has every right to shocked and upset. She's just been lied to her whole life, and has to find out every dream she's had has been crushed at the same exact moment. What did Aurora want to do with her life? Get married, have kids? Live a simple life like she always has? In one night, that was all gone, whatever it was she wanted. Replaced by duties, responsibilities, an arranged marriage, meeting parents she never knew and she could've been thinking some mean things about. She was practically adopted by the fairies, it was possible she would be wondering why they didn't fight to have her in their lives. Then there's the added horror of having to rule a kingdom one day, when Aurora has never had more responsibility other than cleaning and picking berries. In your article on Belle, you make the assumption that Belle is well learned in the area's of math and science simply because her father's an inventor. I think it's safe for you to at least read my assumptions about Aurora. Because Aurora is a kind, caring, loving, loyal, romantic individual, and I think she deserves to be classed differently from the archetypes that was the princess in the fairy tale. But besides that, I liked the article. It was well written and too the point. :) Ps - My mom read me the Grimm version as a kid, but I did hear of the Perrault version. We were big on the Bothers Grim in my house. And sorry if any one takes offense to my comment, but I wanted to make a point that Aurora does have a personality. We just tend to miss it.

PrincessAyeka12 @hajirah - Sorry I was referring to Jessikaroo's reply. But I do like your article too. I read the Grimm version today. The story is titled "Briar Rose", at the christening/feast 12 fairies were invited; one gave virtue, one gave beauty, one gave riches, etc. The 13th fairy who was uninvited gave a gift as an act of revenge. The 12th smoothed over but couldn't completely remove the "gift". So Briar Rose (Aurora in the Disney version) wanders the castle corridors on her fifteenth birthday whilst her parents are away in another kingdom. She's finds a rustic key and unlocks a door at the top of the tower where she sees an old woman sewing at a spinning wheel. Curiously Rose has a go and pricks her finger. She falls backwards across a bed thats in the same room and falls asleep for a hundred years. Her parents return shortly after to fall asleep in the throne room. Nature around the castle falls asleep too. Wind, trees, leafs, etc. Briar thorns grow around the castle. Over the years, princes hear of the tale and try to cut through but the briar has a mind of it's own and so they find themselves trapped/strangled amongst them. More and more years pass, a lone prince hears the tale from an old man and becomes determined to awaken the princess. The curse was just about up in time limit so when the prince arrived, big beautiful flowers bloomed and the briar cleared a path for him. It let him through unarmed and then closed up as a bush again behind him. And the rest of the story we know, they get married straight away in all the splendor and naturally they live happily ever after.
