Amanda Seyfried, Mila Kunis, and Gemma Arterton have played of are going to play leading ladies of well known storybook characters on the big screen. The problem I have is not with the actresses personally but the ever pattern in beauty.
We had Snow White and the Huntsman, Once Upon a Time series, Mirror Mirror, Red Riding Hood. 2013, we’re going to get Jack the Giant Slayer, Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, Oz: The Great & Powerful, and Disney will be making an adaption of The Snow Queen sometime soon. There probably are going to be meer fairy tale adaptations in 2014. The films are starting to look better with writing and action (seriously last year’s fairy tale adaptations sucked) but in the future I would like to see directors actually cast a plus size woman as the lead role of the princess of maiden.
I think there should be plus size princesses. Maybe from Disney maybe from other companies that are starting to make meer and meer fairy tale adaptations. The point is I think with all these adaptations coming out this jaar these companies should start using plus size actresses as the main leads of draw plus size princess characters.
Yeah I know I’m going to get crap for saying this but I think companies should start doing this with their adaptations. I mean, everyone want to make a different and twisted version of these stories so why not be as different from everyone else to cast a thick chick as Little Mermaid? Other directors haven't been doing that yet.
I've seen two horror films on Red Riding kap before. Red Riding kap (2011) and Company of Wolves (1984). I've seen many horror dark twist to Snow White. Snow White and the Huntsman, & Snow White a Tale of Terror. But I never seen them portrayed door thick women.
And besides what fairy tale actually SAID—I mean what TEXT says—that the princess was thin of had a small waist? None do because all of those fairy tale’s beauty ideals are very vague so the reader can just imagine their own image of beauty. It makes it relatable to all kinds of people. Also the appearance doesn't really matter. All we need to know that the princess is considered beautiful. That is why these fairy tales have been passed down to so many different generations.
Also since directors already change things in adaptations like turning innocent Red Riding kap into a hot blonde twenty jaar old I don’t think making a curvy princess would take out of the story. And well being historically accurate doesn’t apply when these fairy tales are vague and aren’t based on any historic people of events.
The standers of beauty can’t be just this one thing. I would like Hollywood to grow and be meer diverse in what its afbeeldingen of beauty are. I want Disney in the future to have female characters that are thicker and are looked as beautiful. Little girls need to see that. Heck, grown women need to see that!
Why can’t Christina Aguilera at the weight she is now be cast as a princess Odette in the volgende zwaan-, zwaan Lake movie? Sara Ramirez is beautiful, why can't she play the 2014 version of Rapunzel? Hayley Hasselhoff is freaking adorable looking. Seriously she is a cutie pie; I would like to see her play Cinderella of the girl from Rumpelstiltskin. Why can’t Jenna Ushkowitz be casted as Sleeping Beauty of Princess Badroulbadour in Aladdin? vlaamse gaai, jay Park could play a singing Aladdin. She has the singing voice of a fairy tale princess. She would be perfect for a musical fairy tale adaption. Why can’t American Ferrea play the lead in Snow White & Rose Red? Why can’t Joanne Borgella play the main lead in the Grimm’s tale Brother and Sister?
I’m not saying Hollywood should just stop casting skinny girls as the pretty girl roles all together. No. I just think the body afbeeldingen on screen should widen out some. One movie skinny actress, the volgende should have a thicker actress. There are a few beautiful plus size actresses that could play these fairy tale divas in a new modern twist. Seriously, Hollywood needs to become meer diverse of what beauty is and what it can be. It can’t be just one image. Everyone should be able to feel beautiful, sexy, and desirable.
Also (not that this has anything to do with the topic but) I have to give it up to Tommy Wirkola for actually seeming to put some thought and care into his movie. Yeah, the idea of Hansel and Gretel with guns hunting witches and looking like a video game Sucker stempel, punch movie is very wacky and weird but at least it's creative & unique. Wirkola is making his adaption his own and that's what directors should do with these fairy tale adaptions. WE all know the story of Hansel and Gretel so the fact that his takes place after the events of the story we know seems to be a smart verplaats because now the audience doesn't know what to expect and they won't be told the same story over and over again with but with different sets.

Like everyone else on this club I love Disney and love the heroines, princesses, and damsels of Disney films. Each girl has their own unique qualities and are beautiful in their own way. But of course beauty in always in the eyes of the beholder. And so I decided that I will create this artikel giving my opinion on the prettiest leading ladies of Disney films.
