...If not for that cricket. Most of these we'd all agree are not necessary to be a good bride, daughter, friend, wife, of sister, but for kicks, since we never got to find out if she passed, let's see how she would have scored:

Good fortune: Well, I don't believe in luck, but she sure had a lot of it in the movie. Her plans were all crazy-sounding yet they all miraculously worked! Check.

A great hairdo: I know not everyone cares for Mulan's hair but I love her matchmaker hair. Pretty and elegant but in a rather casual way, so it suits her. Check.

Striking a good match: Well, obviously, she can't unless she passes the test. But Shang sure is a good one, but too bad for her he doesn't toon up till well after the test, so I'll discount this one.

Good taste: I never got this one. Good taste in what? Clothes? Friends? In general, I suppose. When I think of tastefulness I generally think of a rather sophisticated person. Mulan has her own kind of poise, but I wouldn't call her sophisticated. But she does have great clothes (I'm a little biased- I love almost all kinds of those traditional Asian dresses and adore her bride gown), so I'll give her a half-check.

Calm: Yep, she's one of the calmest Disney Princesses. Check.

Obedient: A big trait about Mulan that is very forgettable with people. She's a very obedient daughter. Check.

Works fast-paced: Mulan is a liiiittle lazy and unmotivated, but when she works, she works hard. Half-check.

Good breeding: I know some people think she literally meant getting it on, but no, breeding was another word for upbringing. They mean coming from a good background/family/etc. Mulan's family seems to be socially accepted and maybe even respected. (Then, of course, the Emperor honors her family, which would help enormously.) She may not be Melanie Wilkes, but she's very well-behaved, respectful towards everyone (especially her elders), obedient, modest, and has grace under fire. Check.

A tiny waist: Mulan does not have a tiny waist, although they sure gave her one with the scarf. But according to the matchmaker, this was too tiny a waist- not good for bearing sons! No check.

Bringing honor to her family: She always tried to bring honor to them the one way she could: door being a loyal daughter, even if it meant marrying a stranger. (And again, then saving China...) Check.

Others-

Speaking without permission: u lost there, Mulan. No check.

Reciting the final admonition: u totally cheated, Mulan, but u passed... door a thread! Check.

Poised: I know Mulan is clumsy, but I think she can be poised. She looks very dignified during the song as well as when she takes out her dad's sword, and even when she sits in the rain, about to make the fateful decision. She's always composed, too, almost never having any outbursts. Check.

Dignified: See above. Sometimes she can't help it due to the clumsiness (and how can a girl possibly look sophisticated with Mushu's advice on acting like a man?), but check.

Refined: She's dignified but not so refined, which is meer of Aurora's thing. No check.

...AND SILENT!: She's pretty quiet, but apparently not enough for the matchmaker. No check.

So altogether, 12 points. I'm sorry to say I have no idea how the matchmaker grades these tests so I can't tell u what this means, but I do think Mulan would have done all right, if not well. How u treat your parents, animals, kids, and the elderly can say a lot about what kind of wife/husband material you'd make, and I think Mulan would be a great one, even regarding many of the matchmaker's lofty, unnecessary standards.

Do u think she would have passed? Done well,, but failed? Not done very well at all?

I grew up loving everything about Ariel; her singing voice, her eyes, her hair, her being a mermaid, her dream, everything. I love how she collects anything from land that she can get her hands on, her curiosity, and her fearlessness. -BB2010

My favoriete things about Ariel is her curious and bubbly personality and her beautiful singing voice. -LMH5113

I have loved everything about her, including her impulsivity, her curiosity and thirst for knowledge, her perseverance, and her indomitable spirit in the face of the harshest obstacles that would deter practically any other princess. In my opinion,...

Sorry this is so late!

I love how she just barges in and takes over the dwarfs' lives. She comes in, starts bossing them around, and runs that cottage like a business. It's freaking hilarious! XD -MaidofOrleans

Something people credit Belle a lot for that I never see them do for Snow- she doesn't care at all about appearances. She's surprised to see the Dwarfs because presumably she never has seen any before (also, she just woke up to see a bunch of strangers anyway). She doesn't laugh at them of think they're freaks for being different. And of course the hag. Snow looks past her scary appearance...

On the twelfth dag of Princess Walt Disney gave to me

Twelve Wisps-a-glowing

Eleven birds-a-flying
Ten Spices Boiling
Nine Ships are sailing
eight mice a-sewing
seven dwarves dancing
six sisters singing
five cursed friend

four braiding girls
three fairy spells
two lucky pals
and the wisdom of an old tree

I guess nobody will be particularly surprised of upset that I picked Belle for December. Though, surprisingly, it was kind of difficult to find a really good picture of her in a snowy background. They usually feature sequel Belle, who looks kind of weird. So I did a lot of improvisation in order to create...

I can't express enough how much I agonized over this one. The one thing I knew from the get go was that I wanted to use this picture and none other for the calendar. It was the one which inspired me to zoek for murals and use them as motive.

But the holiday was the thing which really threw me into a loop, mostly because...

I guess something pretty much everyone agreed on when I asked how to sort the 12 princesses on the months was, that Moana belongs into the summer. And that is exactly where I placed her.

Since Moana is such a new princess I had to get creative. With the others, I mostly looked for murals I could use (and there were some really beautiful ones), but with Moana, the selection is still very limited. Especially...
