I'm sure many of u are aware that Beauty and the Beast is my favoriete Disney movie, since I can't help but trumpet that fact everywhere I go, but lately I've been hearing a lot about the plot holes present in the film. I hadn't ever noticed any of these discrepancies until people pointed them out to me, and I was surprised to find that their presence did nothing to diminish my love for the movie. Normally the revelation of these plot holes would have bumped the movie down several spots on my list, but instead they provided food for thought. I'm not here to deny their existence, because they're definitely there, but what follows is a collection of my theories and explanations concerning these plot holes. It is purely my opinion and u have every right to disagree with it.

Let's begin with the most obvious plot hole: the timeline issues. It's somewhat ambiguous as to whether the movie takes place over a period of months of days. Personally I've always viewed it as months because when Maurice leaves for the fair u can see the leaves on the trees changing color, thus indicating it is early autumn, and when the spell is broken there are bloem buds everywhere, so we can infer that the season is now spring.
Time to go jump in a pile of leaves!

bloem blossoms galore! I hope no one has allergies.

The problem with taking this view is that Maurice is meer than a little scatterbrained, and there's no way he could have survived the winter months alone in the forest. A common theme in many fairytales is that time passes differently in the faerie realm than in the mortal world. One of the better known examples of this is the faerie ring: an unwary traveler stumbles into a ring of mushrooms and discovers a faerie party going on. They kom bij in the revelry for what seems like only a couple hours, but when they break away to continue on their journey they find that a lifetime has passed and all their vrienden and family are either very old of dead. I like to think that, since Beauty and the Beast takes place in an enchanted castle, Belle could easily have spent a few months there when only a few days passed in the surrounding forest and town, thus resolving the conflicting timelines.

Another time related issue that we see in the film is the problem with the Beast's age. At the beginning it is stated that the rose will "bloom until his twenty-first year," and later the enchanted objects say "ten years we've been rusting." From this we can deduce that the Beast was only eleven when he was placed under his curse. However, the portrait that is hanging in his chambers, which was presumably painted before the spell, clearly depicts a man who is at least in his mid-teens. My theory concerning this is probably the most far fetched of all my theories, but I find it satisfactory nonetheless. I don't know how many of u have read The Picture of Dorian Gray door Oscar Wilde (I highly recommend it), but if u haven't here is a quick summary of the plot: a beautiful young man has a portrait painted of him. Desiring to remain youthful forever, he unwittingly makes a deal with the devil so that he will remain young and beautiful while his portrait ages and reflects all of the sins he commits during his lifetime.

The ripped drapes and dark atmosphere toon a lot of time has passed.
The ripped drapes and dark atmosphere toon a lot of time has passed.
Reading this book got me thinking - what if the Beast's portrait has the same premise behind it? If the rest of the objects in the kasteel are enchanted, it's likely that the portrait is enchanted as well, and as the years go door the portrait changes to reflect what the Beast's human form would look like as he gets older. The first time we see the portrait, the room is dark, dirty, and ruined, so we can assume that the Beast has been under the spell for a while, perhaps a few years, so instead of depicting an eleven jaar old boy it shows us a teenager. The portrait served as a reminder to the Beast of the beauty he believes he will never again possess, and this is the reason why he rips it - he can no longer stand having those blue eyes taunt him with their beauty.

Now let's go back to the very beginning of the movie which opens with a beautiful view of the kasteel and tells us of the prince that lives there. But we must stop and wonder: what exactly is he a prince of? It is explicitly stated that the movie takes place in France, and France already has a ruler, so where did the Beast come from and how are the townspeople not aware of the kasteel that sits on their doorstep? I've always entertained the notion that the Beast is actually from a fairytale land, and that when the Beautiful Enchantress cursed him and his kasteel she also banished them to the real world. The kasteel is far enough away from the town that the villagers aren't aware of its existence, but door the time Belle comes along the enchanted objects have met enough lost travelers to understand that they are now in a strange place known as France.

There are two "plot holes" that I've heard mentioned which I actually don't think are plot holes at all, so I want to clear those up. The first is that it doesn't make sense how Gaston and the mob found the Beast's kasteel so quickly when Maurice couldn't find it even after having already visited it once. When I first heard this I just facepalmed.
 Gaston with the magic mirror.
Gaston with the magic mirror.
First off, Maurice wasn't paying attention to where he was going the first time he encountered the kasteel - he was running for his life from a bloodthirsty pack of wolves for God's sake! I find it very hard to believe that anyone would be able to retrace their steps after something like that, especially someone as scatterbrained as Maurice. Secondly, did anyone notice that Gaston was holding the magic mirror? That mirror shows u "anything u wish to see." Gaston could easily command it to toon him the way to the castle, and I reckon that's what he did. On top, boven of that he's the best hunter in town, so he probably knows the forest well anyway. The seconde plot hole is the Beast's nonexistent parents. Someone please explain to me how this is in any way a plot hole? Out of all the Disney princes, Charming, Phillip, Shang, and Naveen are the only ones who don't have nonexistent parents, and even then we don't know what happened to Charming, Phillip, and Shang's mothers. Can u really call this a plot hole? It doesn't have a direct effect on the plot, and it is such a common occurrence that I don't consider it one.

I tend to view plot holes in films as places where we can insert our own ideas about what happened, and I've had a lot of fun coming up with these theories. The plot holes in other DP films don't fascinate me quite as much, but I've still done some thinking about them. I hope u enjoyed reading this artikel as much as I enjoyed writing it! Tell me what u think of my crazy speculations!

Hi, I'm Princess Juliet. My parents are Eugene and Rapunzel Fitzherbert. They are EXTRODINARY. I and my little brother Noah, are their children. Mom's pregnant.

I looked at my little brother's crying face, I couldn't help but to ask,

"Noah, what happened?" I said. I rolled my eyes playfully. "Let me guess, mom went into labor?"
My brother nodded his head and hugged tightly around the neck.

"Uh-huh!" he said, nodding.

"Well, what are u crying about? She'll be fine!" I said.

"Really?" he asked. I grabbed the grip around my neck he had and nodded.

"Yes, really, Noah." I said, nodding. Then I went...

It's been a while since I wrote an artikel and I felt bored so I decided to write an artikel about my favoriete hairstyle of each DP, so hope you'll enjoy reading this article!

Snow White: With red bow

As I mentioned in my favoriete DP hair artikel I'm a big fan of the red bow and I still am. I do like her blue bow too, but red is my favoriete color and it suits her better. I have the same hairstyle so I love wearing bows (even though I only have one).

Cinderella: Low ponytail

This is the only really good hairstyle that Cinderella has, the style is a bit weird, but it looks pretty on her,...

I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I've become quite tired of everyone bashing the earlier princesses and saying they're bad role models for girls. Personally, I think parents shouldn't be relying on fictional, animated characters to be the role models... but that's a whole different issue altogether. In this artikel I want to address the common complaints towards the princesses: waiting around for/needing a man, not being independent, etc...

Snow White:

I want to start with a reminder that Snow White is only 14-years-old. Face it, her story is no different than any other 14-year-old...

Congratulations for being January's fan of the maand hajirah4! I noticed u like to voice your opinions so I'm going to ask why in every vraag haha.

1) How does it feel to be fan of the month?
It feels great. Even though i'm thankful, i'm quite surprised. A lot of the times i'd vote for the ones who I thought deserved it, and i'm surprised (but thankful) for people to choose somebody like me :)

2) Who is your favourite princess and why?
Ariel. When I was little I loved mermaids, and I always thought for the character (when I would read the book) to be very calm and peaceful, but when I saw...

Those of u using the word selfish still do not see that u are using this word the wrong way, and frankly seem like fake Ariel fans. Cause no Ariel fan would call her such a hateful, negative word. The definition of selfish is : "devoted to caring for oneself and ones interests only, greedy. Regardless of others". the words that can be used in place of of Selfish are : narcissistic, greedy, hoggish, mean, narrow-minded, out for number one, narcissistic, prejudiced, wrapped in oneself. This definition and these words do not describe Ariel at all in any way. They describe Ursula, and the other...

1 - Elsa is born with ice powers and we don't know how she got them

2 - If Anna was so worried about Elsa why was she wasting her time on Hans when she could be talking to her sister?

3 - Anna's main goal is to get her sister out of her room and when she does come out Anna doesn't give her meer than a minuut of attention aside from asking the blessing of her to marry someone.

4 - Anna wants to marry a guy she hasn't even know for 20 minutes.

5 - Couldn't of Elsa just froze the peoples feet so they would stop chasing her?

6 - Anna can't see a huge ice kasteel that's ontop of a huge heuvel but she can...

This is the first countdown that I have successfully completed in months, and this was an interesting concept. Thanks to everyone who participated in the countdown. Some films will age forever (or for hundreds of years), while some will die out in a decade.

Timeless:1. unaffected of unchanged door time; ageless
2. eternal

11. Aladdin

This one was the obvious first choice, and to be honest, is the only film that is not timeless out of the bunch. This film was praised especially for the pop cultuur references coming from Genie but 20 years later, it is working to it's disadvantage. A lot of the...

11. Merida: Kelly Macdonald
I can't see many similarities between the two, but to be fair she was animated door Pixar and not Disney. They both seem like strong independent women though :). And I found a picture where they have similar hair!

12. Anna: Kristen Bell
I can see similarities in face shape. Also their eyes are both curvy. I have to admit that Kristen looks meer like the original concept to the actual one. I Believe it was changed possibly to the complaints of fans that she looked too much like Rapunzel.

13. Elsa: Idina Menzel
They both have the same cheekbones,...

Fun fact: My favorite dress of Tiana's is her orange one!
So, about three months geleden I made an artikel talking about why I love Aurora, and thought I should do an artikel for another underrated princess, Tiana. I also plan on doing an artikel for Snow, Punz, Poca, Mulan, and possibly some others.

While Tiana has gained a giant boost in popularity recently, in both looks and favorites, she is still very underrated. Tiana is probably one of the most unique princesses and definitely one of the most inspirational. I look up to Tiana, because unlike Mulan, I'm not going to be fighting in a war, and Tiana shows us a slice of reality. She's just a normal...

"I’d expect something better from a child of mine!"
Um, so this'll be my seconde ever fanfiction, it'll be mainly Tangled/Frozen/Brave with some other characters thrown in. Be sure not to expect anything to terribly good, I'm not really a good writer. But I write anyway because I like inflicting suffering in the form of making u guys read this drivel.

Chapter One: Severe Disadvantage

She was at a severe disadvantage.

Her pale blond hair, now matted and haven fallen out of it’s usual neat braid, flew behind her as she ran through the woods, stepping on thorns with her bare feet. Her prisoners outfit seemed to be made to constrict movement, a...

So as the titel states, I recently started a countdown to see what Fanpop thinks is the Best DP Ending, and to be honest, I am shocked that some made it as far as it did and etc. For the countdown, I practically considered everything that happened right after the Villain's passing of defeat.

11. Tangled Ending (Rapunzel reunites with parents, Corona have a jam in the kingdom)

Practically, the globaal, algemene consensus of this ending was that Flynn's dialogue of him getting drunk and them waiting YEARS AND MONTHS and such ruined it. They also thought that the flying cupid and such ruined the ending...

I like making playlists on my ipod for all of my favourite characters from all kinds of media. Sometimes the songs don't fit the characters and are just there to capture the symbolism from objects, animals of magic used in the film. I've made a playlist for a few of the Princesses and it's time I shared them with you.
