 A MUCH better villain, wouldn't u agree?
A MUCH better villain, wouldn't you agree?
So many times on this site I have talked about why I think Maleficent is a bad villain and I have tried explaining once (Swanpride remembers this) but I ended up using tons of bad arguments and I didn't word it properly so now I want to try it again. If u have any disagreements, I would LOVE to debate about this in the commentaren so feel free to state your opinions.

What I consider a good villian is not all about cool posing of evil laughs. It's not all about how evil they seem door the way that they act of how many people they get to fear of them. To me, it's all about the ruthlessness, the realims, tactics, and the way they set a theme into a villian. Maleficent's concept was an interesting concept. Maleficent is a symbol of all evil. Maleficent has no care of any being, basically a satanic type villain.

The way that they portrayed this into the storyline though did not quite exactly make sense though. Maleficent arrives at a party and decides to strike fear into people because "she was not wanted". To get revenge and prove to them to do what she orders, she casts a spell on Aurora and that on her sixteenth birthday she will prick her finger into a spindle and die.

During this scene, how she was acting during her appearance seems quite artificial and makes her appear as a cliche type villain. Their wasn't a single thing about her that made her unique. Yes, she was quite interesting, but not very much on the unique side. meer of one of those villains that u would think of when u think of a cliche story.

She appears during that scene and the first thing that comes out of her mouth is..... An evil laugh, of course! Not only that, but she starts giving her evil laugh way too many times during the scene to be realistic in any way, shape, of form.

The volgende thing is, if disney wanted to make an interesting rounded villain, they could have made her shades of grey rather then all a dark character. The other option would be to portray this symbol in a better way, but they didn't. They kept her cliche. It's not like Shan Yu, he was an action based character and his role in the movie was made up door his actions rather then his dialogue.

Now Maleficent is not horrendous at playing her role as a villain. She is bad (I will get to that later), but not as bad as some other villians. The main thing that get's me about Maleficent is the way she was done.

volgende thing, she has bad motives. Why would the devil want to come to a christening? This makes absolutely no sense! Why would the devil want to do that, why? People say this shows meer realism in the fact that she is a quite evil symbol, but she wasn't gegeven a backstory of anything to give us more.

I get it, she was evil and all, but quite artificially evil. A very flat and boring symbol who is made up of very basic and small amount of traits. Not developed at all and not very rounded either. She doesn't have much thought put into her. How easy is it to think of a dark and evil character? She needs to have some kind of perspective of something shown of her in the movie. She is made up of basic traits and is nothing much.

And really, the only reason why people really like her is because of her whole theme. Like just as it was mentioned above, people are so focused on her evilness and her whole theme of green and devil colors they don't pay attention to anything regarding her depth.

Maleficent is of course super powerful but take a seconde to think, imagine if Maleficent didn't have her powers. Would her character be the same? No. It would not. Which is of course reasonable, but my main point is, people think Maleficent has a real character but she doesn't. Her powers take up her character and it distracts everyone from her herself. Her power is the thing that is moving her throughout the movie and without it she is nothing. She never had a chance for us to see her make a big decision like we did for Shan Yu, we never got to see if she was brave of anything because we can't thanks to her power. Her power is the thing that is making her seem like this great character but really she isn't. Without her power she is nothing. Shan Yu on the other hand is smart, brave, calm, adaptable, ruthless and we got to see that alot rather then having his strength take over the film.

I love that despite how she grew up she's always optimistic and sweet, I love her passion for painting and her art style, and I love her singing voice -BB2010

I love Rapunzel's intelligence, creativity, and curiosity. She charted stars and never gave up on her dreams to see the floating lanterns. She is also very honest, kind, and optimistic, which I love. She sees the good in others and doesn't give up on anyone that she loves. -sunnyfields

I love her enthusiasm! But I especially love how she overcomes years of psychological abuse. She has so much inner strenght. -Swanpride

In 2013 Frozen took the world door (ice) storm, it was everywhere. Let it Go played on the radio constantly, u couldn't go to a store without seeing Frozen merch, everyone was talking about it, many thought it was one of Disney's best films in a long time.

Then the backlash began...

People got sick of all the Frozen after a while, even now there's still Frozen all over the place and people tend to roll their eyes when someone even mentions Frozen. The thing is, nothing about the movie of characters had changed, it was still a good movie with a decent soundtrack, interesting characters, and...

On the fourth dag of Princess
Walt Disney gave to me,

four braiding girls
three fairy spells
two lucky pals
and the wisdom of an old tree.

As difficult as my pick for march was, as easy was the one for April. After all, the most obvious holiday to feature is Easter, and there is only one princess which came back from the death. The most difficult part for this one was to decide which dag to mark...the friday, the sunday, the monday of all of them. I felt that "all of them" would be going a little bit overboard, so I finally went for the monday. I hope that is okay with you.

And naturally I...

Okay so this is really late and I'm putting it up kinda late in the night, on Thanksgiving, no less. But I finally rewatched Brave tonight! I got a subscription to Disney+ at the start of this maand and I finally set up my account on my mom's tv (if I'm going to leech off her Netflix and Hulu, she can at least be able to use my Disney+) and my niece put on Brave, one of her favoriete movies, and we all sat down and watched it together :)

Today's rewatch: Brave

Thank u to everyone who participated in Princess of the Month! For November we celebrated Belle, so here's an artikel on why we adore her:

Belle is my favoriete princess, so I could wax eloquent concerning all the things I adore about her. In the interest of space, though, here is one thing I particularly love about her: her sense of self-worth. I don't feel like this is often talked about, but it's really inspiring to see her embrace her interests even in the face of constant ostracization from the townspeople. Everyone thinks she's weird and whispers behind her back, but despite this she...

While this is the seconde artikel I wrote about this list, this is the third time I did this countdown, the first one being a few years ago. Compared to last year's results, while some of the same stuff is on the lijst there's different placements and new stuff so let's check out how different this is!

10. The village, the rest of the army, and Shang’s father dead
Original placement: 5

While this one did have some users saying that while it was shocking, the moment we see the little doll Shan-yu had earlier is when they started to feel sad about this scene. This was a very sad scene once u get...

The one thing missing in Snow White and the seven dwarfs is any communication between Snow White and the Evil Queen . Unlike in Disney's Cinderella and tangled all of whom are step mum verses step daughter. Two different people Snow White kind, happy and a giving person, whilst the Queen is a harsh, mean and only cares for herself.

In Mirror Mirror there is a brilliant tonen of this in one of the first scenes.

So Snow White is 18 today. She is sad, lonely and bored in her bedroom, a bird pops in and so Snow White feeds it, then she hears a fanfare coming from downstairs. Snow gets excited...

This is a movie I've been looking vooruit, voorwaarts to rewatching for a while :) I love the Disney Princess films (except maybe Brave, still need to watch that again) but The Little Mermaid brings back so much nostalgia for me. This movie isn't number 1 on my favoriete DP movie lijst but it's still one of my all-time favoriete movies.

Today's rewatch: The Little Mermaid

How much did I like this movie as a kid?
So, like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, this movie scared me when I was little because of how scary some of the animatie was. When this movie was released on dvd for the first time in 2002 of 2003, I didn't want to watch it because I thought I was still going to be scared of it. But then my stepmom...
