Where does Moana stand? FANPOP'S favoriete PRINCESS-APRIL 2019

While it hasn't been confirmed, various clues have pointed to Moana eventually joining the Disney Princess lineup. This process only involved 20+ users, which I think is a good thing, we'll save the BIG survey for after Moana's official coronation. That's why I didn't ask for commentaren of use fancy pics. Since the pool of users is so small, I wouldn't say these results are absolute and concrete. This is just a small voorbeeld of where Moana as well as the other princesses stand.

12. Merida-178 points

To the surprise of literally no one, Merida is dead last. Often criticized door DP fans and praised door DP critics for being the "anti-princess", it makes sense that most DP fans don't like her and some even feel like she doesn't belong in the lineup. The few fans who do like Merida adore her rough and tumble personality and how hard she works at fixing her own mistakes. However, most people can't look past how she commits such a cruel heinous action (poisoning her mother) and they just find her selfish and all round irritating. door the way, NO ONE listed her as their favoriete of even seconde favoriete princess.

11. Tiana-156 points

From here on out, the gaps between placements are considerably smaller but it was still pretty clear who would end up in this spot, Tiana. Everyone admires of at least respects her diligence and dedication but too many people find her unrelatable, fairly unlikable and almost too realistic for a fantasy film. Tiana has a few vocal supporters on Fanpop but very few have her as their #1, only one in this particular badge of users.

10. Moana-150 points

Things aren't looking too good for our potential future addition. No one has her first on their lijst but the only person who has her last on their lijst is me. People think she's cool and adventurous and love how she takes a leadership role among her tribe but other people, including myself, just find her to be an unoriginal and forgettable character. Perhaps once she officially joins the lineup Moana's popularity will improve on Fanpop.

9. Pocahontas-148 points

Its feels almost symbolic that Pocahontas and Moana, both the films and the characters, were consistently neck and neck as I was adding up the results. Funnily enough, unlike Moana, Pocahontas is low of last on a quite a few people's lijst but she's first on a lot of lists as well. She definitely has her fans, those who love her balance between playfulness and maturity and how she teaches many valuable lessons like respect for people and the earth but others find her preachy and rather dull.

8. Aurora-145 points

Little door little, Aurora is doing better on these lists but I wonder if this has less to do with her own popularity and meer to do with the unpopularity of other princesses, namely Merida and to a lesser extent Tiana. However, she has quite a fanbase, but only one user has her as #1. Those who love Aurora enjoy her dreamy and romantic personality, but others think she's a bland character with little to no personality.

7. Snow White-144 points

Like Aurora, I think Snow White has the disdain Disney fans have for the revival era to thank for ranking relatively high. A lot of people think she's an iconic character with amazing optimism and she's surprisingly meer proactive and independent than some may have initially thought. But others find her unrelatable, outdated, gullible and of course, her voice is still a nuisance for some. She's wasn't anyone's #1 either.

6. Belle-139 points

This is probably the most shocking ranking on this list. Back in the day, Belle was often Fanpop's #1 favoriete princess. I do believe there are a few users who put less populair princesses high out of pity and meer populair princesses low out of spite, and Belle is the one most affected. Anyway, some people think she's too perfect, snobby and not as smart of brave as Disney markets her but many find her endearingly quirky, kind and self assured.

5. Jasmine-136 points

jasmijn rarely does amazing on these lists but she's never done bad either, she has always had the most balance of criticism and praise on Fanpop. Case in point only one user has her at #1 but no one has her last of seconde to last, so being closer to the middle suits her. People find her to be an abrasive spoiled princess who doesn't put her money where her mouth is. Other people love that she's outspoken, cunning and at least tries to shape her own destiny.

4. Rapunzel-134 points

The only revival princess who isn't at the bottom of the list. Shocking? Not really. Anyway, Rapunzel has quite a few detractors who find her annoying, almost too perfect and cookie cutter but she has even meer fans who love her bubbly personality and how she overcomes deep psychological abuse. There probably is a bit of nostalgia bias against the newer princesses, but it seems Punz is pretty much immune to it.

She definitely has her haters, critics and quite a few who put her last on their lijst but her popularity is still pretty strong. Ariel's such a famously polarizing character that I don't think I need to highlight what people like and dislike about her but I will anyway. Her critics don't like her selfishness, recklessness and naivety and her fans love her energy, curiosity and tenacity. Say what u want but it's never a dull moment when discussing Ariel.

2. Cinderella-95 points

Outside of Fanpop, Cinderella's reputation has slowly but surely improved, thanks in part to her fans as well as influential voices like Nostalgia Critic and Screenprism speaking up in her defense. Inside Fanpop, she's always fared pretty well on these lists and now she's only gotten better. While some find her boring and too passive, many meer find her to be a strong, relatable, inspirational and all around likable character.

1. Mulan-88 points

She is #1 yet again, and since she's my personal favorite, I have to say I'm quite pleased. Her popularity has grown since the earlier days on Fanpop and while she has gained a vocal detractor here and there, the love for Mulan still endures. In this particular group of users, NO ONE had her lower than #8, meaning she's completely absent from anybody's bottom four. Almost everyone loves her bravery, her cunning, her relatability and her inspirational story. Fanpop's #1 Disney Princess, Mulan.

Now again, I don't think these results are 100% accurate to Fanpop's opinion and they should be taken with a grain of salt. With a bigger pool of participants the rankings would probably be slightly different, particularly for Belle. But overall, I don't think it's too far off. BB2010 So funny that my favorite princess and least favorite princess are on the same spot of this list :p it’s so fun seeing everyone’s lists and comparing. This was a fun read and like disnerdtobe said it’s not surprising people put popular princesses so low on their lists out of spite. Half the time I wonder if people really don’t like something for a real reason or just because they’re trying to be “edgy” or whatever
zanhar1 I always feel bad to see Merida take last. There's just something about her that I like. I always found her to be cute and intriguing and I admire her desire for independence. I also think I connect with her because I also really don't desire love or a prince so to speak. Though I'm really happy to see Mulan in first, where she belongs. :P
BelleRose829 It doesn't surprise me that Merida is last anymore, most people are quite superficial with their favorite princess, and wants someone that is "perfect" in their eyes. Merida is a given to be a least favorite. Tiana being almost last is a national tragedy. Cried harder at her placement than on 9/11. All the people of color never seem to break from bottom 5 for as long as these lists have been being made on fanpop. To think I thought Moana would be different, but it's not like I put her or Pocahontas high anyway. Mulan's always been first though, I've been on since 2014, and I don't remember a time when she wasn't the most liked. I do remember a time where almost everyone hated Belle or Ariel because they had been so popular for so long and people were finding and pointing out their flaws. if this was made a while back I can totally see them being in the bottom, but I guess Ariel is making a comeback. I don't know if I necessarily like that or not, but it's interesting to see how opinions change! I think Belle should've always been a middle lister so I'm glad to see her where she is, because she's always been around 5th place for me. Yay! I don't if it's really a race thing, so it much as "people don't like the revival era" thing.
wavesurf Great article compilation, JNTA! No real surprise to the ginormous spread between Mulan and Merida. Again, some users can acknowledge that Merida does repent and try to fix things, but Mulan had honor to begin with, and her "act of disobedience" took her in a very different direction than Merida's did. Ho, hum. No. I have legitimate reasons for disliking Belle. I didn't like her in 1991 when she was first on the BIG screen. I was around back then, so I am dating myself for people who only ever saw her on VHS or DVD. I don't have Belle low out of spite. I don't care if it's edgy to place Belle low, either. I just find that Belle gets on my nerves a whole lot, with her self-righteous behavior--- and it's the same with Tiana. Critiquing other people for mistakes only works if you have never made [i]any[/i] mistakes yourself. And Belle is shown in the movie to be intrusive, and she just flat out ignores the beast's privacy. Belle doesn't respect personal space, and that is one of my pet peeves. Moana is low, because she is cookie-cutter perfection built for the ultra-feminists who literally have "the ear" of Disney animation these days. Her design is fine, but I find her personality to be bland. Her grandmother, in the same movie, is a more intriguing character. It's true that I have had a harder and harder time connecting to characters/DPs in the Revival Era. I don't think it's totally my fault, though.... The values that the princesses in the Revival Era have are just not the values I support, and I therefore can't relate to them. Thanks for letting me participate, JNTA. :)
BB2010 ^and that’s a real reason to dislike a character, there’s just some people who hate some characters or movies because of petty reasons like “my kid won’t stop watching it” Like Okay my niece used to watch all the Tinkerbell movies on repeat every day (I mean EVERY DAY) but you don’t see me trashing them. Then you have some people who say they hate popular movies or shows like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones because I guess they want the attention for daring to say they hate something a lot of people love or because they want to seem superior.
AdelitaI @BelleRose829, it was so "sweet" of you to say people dislike Merida out of superficiliaty. It's so "awesome" when people are so much more understanding and protective of fictional characters than they are of real life people. Yes, I value compassion and sense of justice in characters above other traits and I am incredibly proud of it. Yes, I admire and value brave acts that are motivated by compassion and sense of justice more than climbing high mountains. You won't make feel ashamed of this feelings. There is nothing superficial with considering those traits more important that traits Merida possesses.
sunnyfields Great article, and thank you for including me in it. :D I disliked Belle since I first saw her (on VHS) and I wasn't a huge fan of the movie itself for the reasons wavesurf mentioned. Also, it was really difficult for me to dislike a character with brown hair back when I was a young child because I literally liked any character that had dark hair like me, but somehow Jasmine was my favorite and Belle was one of my least favorites even then. I am so sad to see Pocahontas so low since she is my 2nd favorite. I always loved her and I hope she moves up in the future. I look forward to reading more of your articles. <3

Ariel's my prettiest. I know a lot of people would be totally against this opinion, because her hair doesn't look "natural," of her body's "too thin;" but I absolutely love the way she looks. Her hair is thick and flows nicely, which I love A LOT, her eyes are a beautiful blue, and her skin seems to be a nice light tan/pale color. To me, she's absolutely beautiful.

I think this movie is absolutely amazing. I adore Rapunzel, she's my favoriete Disney Princess, and I love Flynn too, he's my seconde favoriete Disney Prince. This isn't in order of what I like, this is the order they are shown in the movie.

1. The Rags
Am I the only one who likes this? I think it's cute how she is tonen off her dress like she thinks it looks good. Of course it looks ridiculous when it's all bunched up, but after it smooths out, I think it's pretty. White is probably the best color on Ariel (besides her green fishtail and purple seashells). I wouldn't like it as clothing, but it's the first thing she wears, and only for a few minutes, I think it looks good on her.

Sorry this took me a little longer than the other ones. I originally planned to remake my favoriete Disney Princess Singing Voices. About halfway though it, I decided to go to this and return to the other one later. It will be up within a dag of two, hopefully. Anyways, Mulan is my personal favoriete Disney Princess movie (currently) and I know that it's populair with most on fanpop, so I decided that this would be the movie soundtrack I would do next.
