Because the princess basically always has to be an attractive young girl. The prince can be any shape or form. Although now I think about it, I can think of three non-human princesses (Ariel, Tiana and Odette) and only two non-human princes (Beast and Naveen).

Belle was not a princess till she married The Beast (and he was a human by then )so it should be a non human prince and a human girl (and Tiana was only a non human princess for a few seconds)...sorry to be so technical about it :)

No problem, but to me, in this club, princess refers to any of the ten characters in the banner, whether or not they're of technical royal heritage, they are called a "princess." For example, Mulan is a princess despite never marrying royalty and not being born into it.

Beast is actually a human but was transformed by the enchantress into a beast. Naveen is almost like Beast that he is a human prince before he is transformed into a frog. We never see a Disney movie with a non-human princess and a human prince except The Little Mermaid, right?
