Rory is in the guest room of his hostess, Brittany S. Pierce. He lays on the bed and stares at the ceiling, thinking of all that happened last year. Inside, though, he felt guilty. He remembered last Valentine's dag when he lied about his visa extention to the rest of the Glee club, including his girlfriend, Sugar Motta. He doesn't know what to do about it. He thought about skipping the first few days of school to make it look like something happened, but that would mean it would mess up his attendance. So he decides to cover up a lie with another lie, and say that his visa got extended at the last minute.
So when he returns to McKinley, he tells everyone the good news, and they're really proud to have him back. Then the Glee club director, Will Schuester, talks about bringing in new Glee club members in order to qualify for sectionals. Rory participates in the group number to help capture new members. Unfortunately, everyone makes fun of them and throws slushies at them. After trying to make an effort in getting people, Catherine Mason comes in and tries out for New Directions, hoping that the Glee club will be in better shape with her in the group. Everyone adores her and wants her in the Glee club except co-captain, Tina Cohen-Chang. She thinks that something is up with her, but no one in New Directions sees her point until the dance-routine practice a while later. Catherine thinks that the members in Glee club are talentless and make them feel insignificant. Then Tina steps in and stands up to her. Catherine leaves, and New Directions thank Tina for helping them. She then teaches them a new routine she came up with, and they performed it in the auditorium.
Rory is in a classroom, drawing in his notebook hearts surrounding Sugar's name. He can't take his mind on how to handle his problem with the lie he told. Current Glee club member Blaine Anderson comes in and asks why he's down. Rory explains that he told a big lie to everyone, including Sugar, and wants to know how he can keep his relationship and tell the truth. Blaine says that honesty is one true thing in a relationship. He then asks why he lied in the first place. Rory told him that he wanted to win Sugar over after all that happened on Valentine's dag with him and Artie Abrams. Blaine commentaar gegeven on how silly it was to lie just to compete with Artie, and continues to tell him to be honest. Rory wonders if Sugar will get mad at him. Blaine antwoorden door saying that it's worth a shot.
Rory finally meets up with Sugar one day, and hears that she's going to get a singing tutor to help her with her performance skills. While Rory is happy for her, he still admits the lie he told. Sugar gets mad and wonders what else Rory lied to him about. Rory tried telling him that every other moment together wasn't a lie, and that he really liked spending time with her. However, Sugar denies this and dumps him.
Rory goes back to Blaine and tells him what happened. He feels upset for what all he did. Blaine thought about his relationship with his boyfriend Kurt Hummel and how it tanked last jaar ("Dance With Somebody"). His only solution for Rory was to go see the counselor, Emma Pillsbury and ask for relationship counseling. Rory wasn't sure if Sugar was willing to do it since they're no longer a couple at the moment. Blaine knows that everything between them will settle in time. Rory takes Blaine's advice and goes to visit Emma in her office.
Later on, he and Emma are in the office again, waiting on Sugar to walk in the room. Emma starts off the counseling door asking what happened with Sugar and Rory. Sugar says that she doesn't want to discuss it and still thinks that Rory is a liar. Rory comes in his own defense and says that he lied for her. He had a crush on Sugar ever since Valentine's Day, but had to fight for her Artie. He went on saying that Sugar is a wonderful girl, and didn't want to lose her, especially after when it's time for him and Sugar to graduate. Sugar smiles back and accepts Rory's apology. Sugar antwoorden door wondering how she's gonna keep up her performance practicing and keep in touch with Rory. Rory says that anything is fine with him, and hopes for the best for Sugar.
After their little conference, Sugar and Rory lead each other to the auditorium, singing a duet. They have sweet moments together, leading into a sweet kiss. Rory wonders if he's going to still see Sugar after he graduates volgende year, and Sugar assures him that they'll get to spend every minuut together while they're still in high school. However, Sugar tells Rory later that she got asked to be in a hair commercial door an agent her tutor called up. Rory is happy for her and wants her to do it. Unfortunately, Sugar says that she turned it down because she didn't want to leave her vrienden behind. She also tells him that she'll have plenty of time after high school to do commercials and other stuff. After hearing Sugar's true feelings about him, Rory smiles at her and hugs her.
Somewhere before the end of the school year, Rory stands in front of New Directions to make a speech about how blessed he is to be with so many amazing people. He also includes that Sugar is a very independent, kind, and hardworking girl. In addition to saying this, he sings a pleasant solo in front of the Glee club, expressing his love. Sugar is amazed door this. And with that, he gives her a halsketting, ketting with a 4-leaf clover on it as a present to her. Sugar smiles and kisses Rory on the cheek, hoping their friendship never ends. After this and all of the other things happening around McKinley High School, Rory is to come back for another jaar and live it to the fullest.
