conflicted as to which side he wants to be on (at a young age)-so Severus.

Well, Tom Riddle was pure evil, Draco isn't.

Draco is more arrogant, rude and tormenting of other students just like James used to be when he was 15 than he is a downright villain like Tom.

Sirius... fine, that's even more outraging than picking James. Sirius... shit.

Okay, Draco did everything to please his parents, to live up to their expectations, I believe that has nothing to do with Sirius. And yes, he bullied people like James, but in fact James never conspired to kill a headmaster never became a death eater, picked a side and grew up at 17... Draco was the sly runner up. As was Snape to James. Runner up at Quidditch, with girls, at studying. He never quite grew up, because he was the other extremity. Snape was a bullied poor kid, Draco a spoiled rich one. Same result. Unable to grow up, unable to make decisions, unable to see things from different points of views, unable to get himself together.

Except Snape was smarter than James.

So while he may by second best to James at girls, Quidditch, popularity etc, he definitely was clever, there is no denying that. You did give a pretty good argument, but this part I just had to pull up :)

I can see it both ways really. I can see how he is the Severus Snape of his generation and I can see how he is the James Potter of his generation. I see more similarities with Potter, but oh well. I don't, however, see how he is Tom Riddle. Prejudice, yes, but aside from that I don't see many similarities between the two at all.

makintosh picked Albus Dumbledore:
IMO, he is the Albus Dumbledore of his generation. Tempted by Dark Arts, somehow attracted to the dark side (remember Albus' childhood), prejudiced (remember how Albus treated Arianna), both under bad influence (Grindewald/Lucius). Both were leaders and even role models to their followers. And furthermore, both were afraid of Dark Power.
Dumbledore knew Draco's true nature

WTF?! Draco is NOT the "James Potter" of this generation! James was a whole lot braver than he was. Just because their both bullies, doesn't mean they're anything alike personality-wise. James was really a good person at heart, and he wouldn't do something like, oh, I don't know, help Death Eaters get in the school and try to kill Dumbledore. I guess you could say Draco was a good person at heart too, but you had to dig WAY down. He was still cowardly throughout the series and we know James was far from that- he saved Snape from Lupin as a werewolf and died for his wife and child. Can anyone honestly say Draco would do the same?
I think Draco is more like Snape. Sure, Snape was not the bully, he was the one getting bullied, but they're similar in that they were always competing with their rivals (James and Harry), they both grew up hearing the same thing about Muggles, they both formed a Death Eater posse, and they both made poor decisions.

So was Snape.

Snape is one of, if not the most, bravest characters in the entire series, much braver than Draco and James.
