It's a long one...


“I have no idea what happened to him…” Lisa said, confused.
She was making the bed and Hugh watched her from the bathroom door. It was almost midnight and he was partially glad the dag was almost over.
At the lunch, Nick chose to point out his father wasn’t there. Of course, everyone else thought there was something wrong with him. Everyone but Hugh. They all, to Hugh’s relief, brushed off the boy’s ridiculous behavior. However, Hugh didn’t. He was scared his son realized his father was rather missing, that Hugh was nothing but a lost copy. That made Hugh think how did the ‘this world’ Hugh behave. He thought he was doing a good job so far, that he deceived everyone. Apparently, he didn’t deceive Nicholas.
“First, he doesn’t wanna eat his favoriete meal, volgende he starts acting ridiculously” Lisa was almost talking to herself.
Hugh thought about the weird dag he had with his ‘new’ family. He had a great time with Elyon, even better one with everybody at lunch, if u excluded the Nick shouting his dad wasn’t there part.
Later they all watched some TV while Lisa went through the latest script. Then they had a quick avondmaal and now everyone was in their bed, exhaustion taking its part.
Hugh couldn’t think of the dag as nothing other than a ‘normal’ family Saturday. That it really was.
In the real life, he would stay home, alone, he’d go through the scripts over and over, maybe call to UK to hear from the kids and he would have a microwave meal. This seemed so much of a better Saturday.

Lisa got into the bed and patted the other side of it.
“Aren’t u getting in?” she zei a certain amount of seduction recognizable in her voice. Hugh was done- he showered and he changed into the pajamas. He couldn’t verplaats from the bathroom door, though, every step closer to the bed was a step closer to waking up in the reality, in the reality where all this didn’t exist and where all of this would stay in his mind, bugging him occasionally. He didn’t know what to expect tomorrow. If it was tomorrow, maybe he’d wake up on Saturday, yes, he would sure wake up on Saturday, he went to sleep on Friday, he had to wake up the volgende morning.
He would wake up and face the blank dag and its emptiness.

Just as he was about to verplaats towards the bed, Nicholas’s cries/shouts started to fill the hallway.
“Nice… Now he’s awake… What’s wrong with him today? Will u get him?” Lisa asked from under the thin covers.
Hugh just nodded. His brain was sure persistent of keeping him as long as possible in his dream.

Hugh smiled as he entered Nick’s bedroom. The toddler was standing in his crib, grasping its bars and shaking them. The moment Hugh appeared on the door, he stopped what he was doing and burst into a happy giggle.
“Daddy!!!” he shouted, spraying his arms in the air as if he wanted for Hugh to take him.
Hugh was confused, nine hours geleden he was yelling how his daddy wasn’t around and now he was recognizing him as his ‘daddy’. Maybe Lisa was right, maybe Nick was acting strangely.
Hugh stepped to the kinderbedje, wieg and gladly picked Nick up.
“You can’t sleep?” Hugh asked his son, which had his arms wrapped his little arms around Hugh’s neck. Nick shook his head “No” and grinned “Daddy, pway”
Hugh had no idea what Nick was referring to.
“No, we can’t play, it’s midnight, u need to sleep” he stroked his hair, it was so soft.
“No! Daddy pway pi-ano” Nick wriggled in Hugh’s arms. So, that was what he meant door ‘play’. Hugh thought about it a little… He didn’t lay his fingers on the keys for meer than a dag and a soft lullaby could put Nick to sleep.
“I will, but we have to be quiet not to wake anyone” Nick just bobbed his little head with approval.

Hugh carried him all the way through the hallway, down the stairs, through the keuken-, keuken hallway, through the front hallway and into the muziek room. He turned on the lights; the muziek room was everything he ever dreamt of. He couldn’t help but smirk at the irony of it.
The best muziek equipment, three guitars hung on one of the walls. Everything his eyes failed to catch when he was in there with Lisa, now came into the view.
He seated himself on the piano chair and placed Nicholas in his lap. The child wriggled as Hugh started playing Mozart’s ‘Lullaby’. As the piece went door Nick calmed down and fell asleep quickly after that.
Hugh’s fingers never left the keys and as he enjoyed the sight of his son sleeping soundly in his lap, he felt tears fill his eyes. Soon, he would wake up having nothing of this.

“Hey… So this is to where u two disappeared” Lisa showed up on the door. Hugh didn’t know how to answer her, so he just smiled. She smiled back.
“Is he asleep?” she asked quietly, in case he was. Hugh still stroking the keys, nodded. Lisa found a piece of empty zitplaats, stoel and sat volgende to the two of them.
She watched Hugh finish the lullaby and sighed.
“That was wonderful” she zei as Hugh turned to face her.
“Thank you” he somehow found it hard to reply realizing how close she was.
It was even harder to think how far away she would be once he woke up.
“He’s been acting so strangely… I have no idea why he changed all of sudden” she zei softly, stroking Nick’s back, still careful not to wake him.
“Maybe change isn’t bad” Hugh smiled at her knowing she would think he was referring to the little angel sleeping between them. However, he was meer of talking to himself.
Lisa got up and told him “I’ll be waiting u in bed, don’t take too long”
With that she left.

“Hun—what—are you—doing?” he tried to ask between the kisses. Loosening a button of Hugh’s shirt, she smiled at him “What--does it look--like I’m doing?”
She kissed him again, loosening another button.
“I’m trying to make love to my husband”
