Chapter 4: Perfect Performance

(inside the pinguïn habitat)
SK: Opening time. Time to toon off our playful pinguïn antics!
(a crowd of tourists gather outside the pinguïn habitat)
KW(Private): -Oh no, how are we going to carry out our routine without messing up our moves?-
PR(Kowalski): -I don’t know, Private, but we’ll have to figure out something soon. How about we try those we do in pairs first? Then we can just exchange roles.-
SH: -Good idea, Kowalski! Private, would u mind so much as to make that little suggestion to Skipper?-
KW(Private): -Works for me!- Um, Skipper, could we do the pair routines first? I think the tourists would like something different for once.
SK: (thinks for a while) I like that idea, Kowalski! You’ll pair up with…
KW(Private): Can I go with Ko- I mean Private?
SK: Sure u can, Kowalski! I’ll go with Rico then.
SH: Hey, what about the lady?
SK: Oh, yeah. You’ll be intercepting. Alternate between pairs and try to make it meer elaborate. No meer than thirty seconden per switch.
SH: -Great. I’ll only have thirty seconden every minuut to discuss with u two then. Try to speak in short sentences. I think it's starting. Get ready!-
(the penguins start acting cute and cuddly, with sherry flitting back and forth between the two pairs)
SH: (moves to Kowalski and Private) Ok, here's the plan. We verplaats at night. Venue will be Kowalski’s lab. We'll fix the mind switcher little door little every night. Deal?
KW(Private): Sounds good to me.
PR(Kowalski): As am I. I'm approximating the time we have at around... Three nights. We'll have to work really hard then.
SH: Got it. Seize any free time Skipper allows and we may finish it up in less than three days. Oh, thirty seconden is up. I gotta go. (moves towards Skipper and Rico)
SK: So... u found out anything yet?
SH: Wait what?
SK: u know, I think there's something going on between those two. (glances at Kowalski and Private) Since u know them both pretty well, I just thought that... Well, u know what's going on?
SH: No, nothing. Why's that?
SK: I still feel something's not right. And it's Kowalski and Private who aren't right.
SH: Uh... really? I don't think there's anything wrong with them. Oh, thirty seconden are up. I need to move. (moves towards Kowalski and Private) Kowalski, Private, Skipper's already suspecting that something's wrong with u two!
KW(Private): Oh no! What now?
SH: We need to finish fixing the machine fast! We can't let Skipper find out at all costs!
PR(Kowalski): We've just got to step up our act, but nothing can fool Skipper's gut...
SH: We just have to keep it up long enough to fix the machine. We'll start at free period later on in the afternoon when there aren't any zoo visitors and Alice is having her lunch break. Crud, thirty seconden are up again. (moves towards Skipper and Rico)
SK: Anything yet?
SH: u can't seriously expect a result from me every thirty seconds!
SK: Ok, ok. So... What do u see that's wrong?
SH: Um... (glances at Kowalski and Private) Nothing obvious yet, though how u notice things within thirty seconden and remember them I really don't know...
SK: Right... u sure?
SH: Sure I'm sure. Thirty seconden are up. I'm moving.
SK: Then move. But it's ending soon. I think the tourists are going to be flinging vis pretty much in half a minute's time.
SH: Ok. (moves towards Kowalski and Private) Performance time's almost up. So, we got a plan?
PR(Kowalski): u got it, Sherry. We'll assemble in my lab at lunchtime. I'll make an excuse to follow Private and u in, then we'll work on the Cerebral-Switcher.
(Tourists cheering in the background and start throwing fish)
SH: Hm, looks like we did a good job of entertaining the guests. See, Private? u didn't mess up after all... (gets hit door a fish) Ow... I wish these people would watch where they throw. My head is precious!
