First: Here is a link from an actual Muslim woman with her thoughts on how Muslim women are portrayed in America in general.link

Second: Here is my personal break-down analysis based on knowledge of Arab/Muslim culture compared to the Disney Aladdin film.

The majority of Princess Jasmine's numerous flaws stem from the fact that she is completely inaccurate and offensive to her culture. From the clothes she wears to the way she speaks, jasmijn does not represent Arab of Muslim women at all but rather a disgraceful woman in their culture. Unfortunately, jasmijn is not a suitable role model for young girls.

1. jasmijn is dressed like a Harem girl instead of a princess. A princess is the daughter of the king who no man is allowed to touch without the king's approval. A harem girl is one of the king's many mistresses. No king would dress his daughter like his mistress. No father would want to see his daughter dressed in that way.

2. jasmijn is very impulsive to her detriment. She runs away from home pagina which would never happen in reality as she knows she would've been raped and/or killed as a lone female running around, especially in that clothing.

3. jasmijn does not choose her words wisely and therefore gets herself into meer trouble. (Example: She says "At least one good thing will come of me being Queen, I'll have the power to get rid of you!" to Jafar. Now, someone who wasn't trying to stop her from getting to be Queen has all of the incentive in the world to stop Jasmine. If jasmijn had kept her mouth shut, she could've just became Queen and actually got rid of Jafar instead of just talking about it.)

4. jasmijn doesn't have enough self worth/value. As she says in Aladdin, "I am not a prize to be won." So she's just some trash to be thrown out? She completely looks at herself the wrong way. She IS a prize to be won and she gets to choose who gets to win. Instead of just being gegeven to someone, her preferences are actually playing a huge part. Most other princesses in the world and most other women in the middle east (Jasmine's culture) would not have had so many luxuries in choice of who to marry as jasmijn did.

In addition, when jasmijn first meets Aladdin when he saves her in the marketplace, she immediately goes home pagina with him. He is a stranger and she has no idea what he will do to her. She also knows Aladdin is lying about what Abu says when Aladdin pretends Abu "thinks it's awful" that jasmijn "has to get married". In this moment, she goes to kiss Aladdin but the guards interrupt. No proper young lady would go back to a strange man's house and let him make his moves on you. If she had meer self value, she wouldn't be offering her first kiss to a random straat criminal that she doesn't even know if she should trust of not yet.

5. jasmijn is incredibly spoiled. Instead of recognizing how much better her life is than any other woman around her, jasmijn refuses to acknowledge her blessings and instead is very spoiled and selfish in her wants for more. Nothing would ever be good enough for jasmijn as her life is already better than everyone else around her yet she still complains. All her father wanted, was to know that his daughter would be taken care of door a good man before he died and she wouldn't even give these men the time of day. How is she supposed to know whether of not they are worthy of whether of not she could love them when she wont even really meet them of give them a chance? She'd be a much meer pleasant and reasonable person if she at least gave them a chance but made no connection. The film makes it obvious that she doesn't even try to connect with them though.

6. jasmijn is absolutely a tease and not just for her clothing. Having watched the film, it is easy to say that her clothes are chosen for her rather than chosen door her. This doesn't change the fact that she is so unpleasant in her personality that the most likely reason for her provocative clothing is so as not to scare off every potential suitor. Besides her clothing though, jasmijn acts like a tease on her own accord. She teases Aladdin on the balcony before berating him. (Refer to #6.)

7. jasmijn is referred to as a "Shrew". A "shrew" is a person with violent temper and speech. This is not seen as becoming of a young woman. She should no better when to hold her tongue and when not to. She is also a prejudiced shrew, being awful to innocent people who don't deserve it. When Aladdin compliments Jasmine, telling her that he thinks she is beautiful, her response is to tease and then berate him. She says "Hmm... Yes. I'm rich too. The daughter of a sultan. A fine prize for any prince." to which Aladdin says "A prince like me." Hopeful that with his new status, he will finally be worthy of Jasmine's love and attention. He goes through a lot just to get to see her again and how does she respond? "A prince like u and EVERY other peacock I've met. Just, go jump off a balcony!" What a shrew! This guy goes through all of this trouble just so he will be allowed to meet and talk to u and all u can say is for him to go kill himself? Over what? Being attracted to you?

8. jasmijn is incredibly spoiled. All her father wanted, was to know that his daughter would be taken care of door a good man and she wouldn't even give these men the time of day. How is she supposed to know whether of not they are worthy of whether of not she could love them when she wont even really meet them?

9. jasmijn is prejudiced. She doesn't even want to give Aladdin a chance just because now he is a prince even though he is the same guy? This proves that jasmijn is not a generous of kind person who takes people as they are but rather for what they represent. She didn't even care to know Aladdin as Ali because of what he represented not who he was as a person.

10. jasmijn is a hypocrite. In addition to her being rude to Ali just because he was a prince, she was still rude when she realized he was Aladdin the whole time. When she tricked Ali into admitting that he was Aladdin, she got very upset and started yelling at him. She yelled at him because he lied about who he was even though she started the lying in the first place when she lied about being a princess. How could she get mad at Aladdin for pretending to be something he's not when she did the exact same thing? Somehow it's right when she does it but wrong for anyone else? Exact definition of a hypocrite. Both Aladdin and jasmijn felt trapped door their positions in society and they both lied about who they were to discover another world they felt denied of. She had no leg to stand on whatsoever for getting mad at Aladdin.

Personally, this is all a shame to me because they pretended jasmijn was an Arab princess but then they designed everything about her to be American of an Arab harlot. This is not representative of her culture of of a princess. [I personally would have loved to see her meer true to character as I think Muslim/Arab women have a very unique grace and bravery that could have been shown.] I believe the reason that jasmijn gets negatively portrayed in lots of "fan fiction" is because she is so much in conflict with her own culture and princess culture. It is hard for grown adults to take jasmijn seriously as a role model for young girls when she is portrayed this way.

Had jasmijn been portrayed meer accurately, she would've been far meer like Cinderella, Ariel of Belle. She would've been braver, kinder and meer modest. She would've had meer grace and poise the way a princess should. The most accurate jasmijn was portrayed in Aladdin was in her purple royal engagement announcement dress. That is the jasmijn who should be sold to the little girls. Not the spoiled, impulsive, shrew-like tease version of her.

NOTE: Aladdin IS taken from "1001 Nights" of "Arabian Nights". Princess jasmijn is based on Princess Badroulbadour who is Chinese (not Arab) and described as being somewhat spoiled and vain.

Sorry for taking so long, but I've been quite busy on this spot with posting new forum posts and such, but now I decided to write about the results from the Best DP titel picture countdown and I will write a few commentaren for each of them and where I would place them (you might recognise it from my artikel about it)! Anyways, enjoy the artikel and please comment!

10. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1)

I have returned after pretty much spending Christmas break w/ family (mostly my sister) and am in such a good mood due to non-Disney related epicness, Nostalgia Critic finishing Disneycember, and my shows returning while my favoriete one comes to the finale.

But enough excuses. I also took time off to carefully go over the subject for this artikel because of very good reason. What's the reason?

I LOVE DISNEY SIDEKICKS!

Yes, the side characters are what make the films for me in the Disney pics because I remember mostly their moments because they're awesome. To me, the sidekicks are the funny characters...

10.Snow White
This sweet, refined, adorable little girl might be a joy to watch on-screen, but might've been lacking a bit in the smart department. First of all, she goes into some little house that she doesn't even know who's it is, and sleeps on their bed! Really? What if they all had malaria of something? Then, even though the dwarves warned her PLENTY of times, she lets in an old, creepy lady into her house....

14. Cinderella

To me, Cinderella isn’t the best princess. I’m not sure what it is, but something about her just rubs me the wrong way. I’m not sure if it’s her voice, her personality, of her naivety, but I just can’t stand her. She doesn’t try very hard to get Prince Charming, she does try just not very hard, she doesn’t even tell him her name! How wrong is that? She dances with the dude all night and doesn’t even tell him anything about herself, to me, that’s just wrong!

Hi I am new to Fanpop, and I saw that lots of people had done this type of artikel so I decided to give it a try. Here is a lijst of my top, boven 10 favoriete Disney Princess eyes. Please enjoy, and commentaar because this is my first article.

10. Snow White

Her eyes are so small and round, that they just don't look like she could possibly have peripheral vision. And the color is quite dull. They just aren't stunning and they have no depth to them.
I do like Snow White, but she has no depth, especially in her eyes. There is nothing there, just a blank stare.

10. Tiana

Well her hair does not move. && I know they had to make it that way but they could have made it in a meer flattering style. I love Tiana && I think she is very pretty but I really dont like her hair.

9. Mulan

Mulans hair looks very thin. && It is also very straight. I like a little wave, curl,or Body in hair. && Mulans has none of that. It is just plain.

Let me start off door saying that there is no Disney Princess I truly dislike. I think it’s simply impossible for me to dislike anything Disney. In a way that made this lijst especially hard to do because I felt bad each time I placed a Princess on the list. I love them all, with perhaps the exception of the last lady on my list, and even her I don’t completely dislike. She’s last simply because she’s the only one who managed to get me irritated at some point, something which no other princess has managed. I couldn’t find it in my hart-, hart to be irritated at any of them. But meer on that...

F: 10. Aurora
Just a bland piece of nothing. She is pretty, that's it. Well yeah she has some great morals, but she fell asleep and so did I.

P: 10. Rapunzel
She is nice and cute but eyes freak me out. TOO big!!! She looks like she is 12. But one this is that she has got amazing hair. That's all.

F: 9. Cinderella
She is lovely, sweet, charming and cute, but the...

In light of the actual “fairy tale trend” in TV and movie, I recently realized how much the Disney films have “taken over” the fairy tales they are based on, and how few people actually know the story they are based on. Because of this, I’ll compare the Disney-Version with the bron text, and I’ll recommend a few other adaptations I really like. I’ll only take a look at the fairy tales – meaning I’ll skip Pocahontas and Mulan, since they are not part of my culture. Perhaps someone who grew up with those stories is ready to do a small piece about them?

Considering that...

Prince Charming, the seconde prince who married Cinderella is in the last place.Fans say that he is so boring, that we don't know him a lot. People see him as lazy, because he didn't look for Cinderella, so he send servants. In my opinion, I love him, so kind, handsome....

9.Cinderella
Cinderella's actions would make jasmijn very angry. jasmijn wouldn't like how passive she is, and how she's dreamy and wishes for meer but doesn't do anything about it. jasmijn also wouldn't understand of like how Cinderella never stands up to her stepfamily in a forceful of aggressive way, of never tells them off. She would find it very insulting to her strength as a woman.

Jasmine would like Aurora's playful, flirty personality, and how she acts hard to get with Phillip. But...

Here is the first artikel for the Best Disney song countdown, tonen the songs in 79st-68st place.

79. 'Gonna take u there'- The Princess and the Frog.

Unsurprising that a song that is kind of unimportant and not really needed in the movie ,which may be one of the reasons, comes in last place (which imo it didn't really deserve) and also the fact that it may not be as loved as some of the other, better known Disney songs probably helped it to leave.

'I seriously hate this song'-fhghu

'this song was not even needed'-BB2010

And yes, I’m still on the topic of dubbing. I’m pleased to say that at least “Sleeping Beauty” escaped the policy of redubbing in Germany. “Cinderella” has mostly still the original dub, but for the DVD release some “marketing genius” decided that they had to change the opening scene. Who cares about the back story of Cinderella, let’s explain the audience that “Cinderella” is the American version of “Aschenputtel”. The explanation is not even correct, since the movie is based on the French version of the fairy-tale, which is much different from the German one. And...

10. Charming

Okay, okay. I know this is a typical placement for him, but I just feel neutral about him. I can't use the excuse for lack of screen time, because, well...you'll see why later. I also can't say he lacks a personality, because he does have a personality. When he...

Chapter 11

Despite Ariel's assurance, Melody still hated the idea of not having a mother. Why doesn't she have a mother? How come other kids have two parents while she has one? Mind you, not that she doesn't like her dad-no she loves him! Melody still yearns for someone who will read stories to her and kiss daddy when he comes home.

"You don't know what happened to your mother?" Ariel asked.

Melody shook her head. "No, I don't know what happened to her."

Ariel didn't press anymore to the subject. Melody must have a been a baby when a tragedy struck her mother. Silence filled the whole room, only...
