NataliaLidia um, no, it doesnt. want to know why? because no one has been able to explain why my reason doesnt count. theyve given explanations for every other reason i have up there, except this one. with this one, the only things i get are "well, it was in the 7th book," or, "your an idiot," or "its obvious." obviously, its not. so, there really is no reason as to why he can teach for so long while bullying students. my reason still stands.

PotterForever We already told you why your reason dosent count. They arent really reasons, because most of them are just opinions and the rest have been expalined in the seventh book. Your comlaints are invalid if theve been explained in the book. As for Snape bullying students, havent you ever had a mean teacher before? Snape dosent bully everyone, just the Gryffindors. Sometimes teachers just have attitudes toward certain kids. They dont all get fired for it. Plus, he was working with Dumbeldore. Some of your "reasons" for disliking Twilight are laughable too, like for instance the one where you claim that you are a vampire. But some of them I actually agree with, for instance, "Edward is descrobed to much it get boring," or "Edward is abusive," "Bella is a bad role model." Even so, you hate both series, yet you spend your time online talking about how much you hate both series. Either yor life is extremally boring, or your just trolling to get attention. NataliaLidia that's great that snape isn't evil. really. most of what you said had nothing to do with my point, except for that last paragraph, but thank you for taking the time. but you did bring up something interesting. my point was "why is snape able to keep his job for so long when he bullies students." you said because he needed to convince everyone that he was on voldemort's side. really? even, for eleven years (before quirrel showed up) when he was gone? everyone, (before book 4) thought voldemort was dead, so it cant be that he was worried about his position. you brought up that not many people liked him. im assuming that this also includes the minister at one time or another. we know the ministry can overrule dumbledore, so why didnt he overrule dumbledore and have him fired?

FredWRules no, coz the law saying that the minister could sack teachers hadn't been passed before the fifth book, and when it was passed, umbridge could see an ally, and since she didn't have many of them and he was competent at his job, he wasn't fired. that clear enough for you?

Avp_m-s_Fan You are trying to make Severus a two dimensional character, you could do that with any of the T******* characters, but with the better writing in HP you can't. You picked to look at Severus at some parts without looking at what was behind it. More often than not Severus was actually doing something to protect/guide Harry, which is what most of those were proving. Severus has been a spy for Dumbledore since Lily died, he promised to do anything to protect the child [Harry]. He never picks on students, he does a few of them work harder, but that only makes them get better at it. Neville - With the shrinking potion that was supposed to be applied to his toad, Herm and Nev got better at potions work, and at working together. Severus had the antidote already before he tested. Neville also learns to start standing up for himself, though it doesn't really show till later books. Harry - who found the courage and strength, even at the tender age of 11, to stand up to Snape and to acknowledge what bravery Snape could muster by naming a son after him. Harry infact, names Severus to be one of the greatest wizards. It does not sound like Harry resented Severus in anyway, not once he knew the motives. Taken from a Snape Debate: I had a lot of teachers in my day that were downright evil, or so i thought. Then a year or so ago, I meet up with a couple of them and have dinner. They only acted that way because they could see more potential in me. Snape was mean to harry because he could see more potential in harry. He wasn't lying to bellatrix and narcissa; he was telling them, in his opinion, what harry was. Snape saved harry from the bucking broomstick (SS), made sure he made it safe to hogwarts in CoS, attempted rescue in PoA (gets stunned), tries to keep him out of trouble in GoF (only tries because there is a known traitor), teaches harry occulmancy (until harry discovers secret), tells death eaters his opinion (which is false) and possibly rips soul to ensure harry keeps fighting. In the last book, he wants to find harry to tell him the truth about his scar. His dying moments he spills, literally, the fact that he loved lily, harry was a horcrux and that he had grown to love harry. [From a Snape character debate (was on dark/light, hero or villian)] They also forgot, Snape planned Harrys escape from his relatives and how to keep him safe once the wards broke. Harry obviously realized that Severus saw that he had potential, that he pushed Harry to be the best he could be. If not Harry wouldn't have realized [stated somewhere above] it at the end of the series. So to your question, why fire one of the greatest teachers you will ever have? Also, without reading the last book (it ties everything in) you are lost in the wizard world.

nati30 Snape has one of the most complex back-stories of any character in the series. You really will not ever truly understand why he has kept his job unless you read book seven. And if you had paid more attention, you would have realized that Dumbledore was pretty sure that Voldemort was going to return, therefore, he kept Snape. So unless you have read "The Prince's Tale" in book 7, you have no reason to be hating on Snape because he is one of the bravest and most compassionate characters in the book. P.S. I agree with everything said in the comment above mine.
