Cops. Aren't they part of the Department for Magical Law Enforcement ? That's what police is : to enforce the law.

There's also Magical Law Enforcement Patrol/Squad that are different to an Auror but in the same department.

It is unknown how Hit Wizards are different than Aurors, as both their duties include hunting down dangerous criminals.

One possible difference may be similar to the difference between the Muggle Police and the Muggle Military. Alternatively, the difference could be similar to the roles of elite paramilitary units (e.g. SWAT) compared with a national criminal investigative bodies (e.g. FBI).

^Thats what i thought, there are five different departments in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. The magical Law Enforcement Patrol seem to be for the minor things like the dustbin incident (i think) with fake Moody and were mentioned sorting out a regurgitating toilet but they also arrested Morfin and Marvalo Gaunt, so isn't that more like the police?

Policeman is a word of broad meaning stretching from traffic cop to court guard policemen. A MI-6 is very much like an Auror in my opinion.

Always thought of them as people that are more than police.
