DMLIME I'm sorry to even think this, but I reckon Rick will kill Annabeth and Percy, but together so it's still nice. He sort of hints at this when Nico says he doesn't know how someone can get back if they lock the doors of death on the tartarus side. Ithink Percy and Annabeth will save the world by shutting the doors, while condemning themselves to the Underworld, forever.

JasmineValdez ^ here's what I think on that. Annabeth and Percy will live (he doesn't want insane fans torching his house), and an equal team on the underworld side? Hmm... Luke, Bianca, Silena, Beckendorf, Lee Fletcher.... Get the point? And I'd love to see them in the series. :P

crazy_greek Okay, now, I have to warn you: this is a very detailed guess. I'm not saying it may happen like this, but I don't think it's completely impossible. I've read carefully the so far HoO series and I found some "clues" as to what may happen (yes, I admit it, I love to play the detective!). I don't know if it's correct or not, but here's my guess/theory: I don't think Rick would kill Percy and Annabeth. Firstly, because he needs someone to cross Tartarus. Secondly, because it would be as if saying "You go through pretty rough situations only to die a nasty death". No, he wouldn't do that. Lastly, because writers rarely kill the protagonists. I think we will see what happens both in Tartarus and in Epirus. In Tartarus, Percy and Annabeth will have trouble, but perhaps they'll find some help (remember Briares? He and his two brothers were supposed to make sure prisoners stayed in Tartarus. perhaps they will help Percabeth). After many dangers, they will finally reach the Doors of Death. I don't know what might happen to the others while traveling towards Epirus. Probably, one of the point of views would be Nico's, I don't know. Perhaps they'll go searching for celestial bronze, so that Leo can make his new super weapons and bring Festus back to life. But I think that, eventually, when they reach the House of Hades, they will be in serious trouble. In the books it is written that Gaea is stronger in Greece and that that's where she's gathering her army of monsters. So, they will have to fight a whole army while worrying for their friends AND the deadline. Now, remember the line about the fall of the world? I think we will meet Porphyrion again. "Porphyro" is the vivid red with a little purple inside. So, I think the fire means the giants and their king, Porphyrion. Now, the storm is for Zeus. So, i guess it means that the world must surrender to either the giants and their patron or to the seven demigods and the gods. About the oath. In SoN we read over and over again about a terrible sacrifice that Percy will have to do. Also, we read that Frank will help him make it. I think that it means to leave Annabeth behind (she was already weak and injured when she fell) and go help the others against Gaea's forces. If they loose the battle, there would be no point closing the Doors from Tartarus, because they wouldn't be able to close them from Epirus. So, either Frank and Annabeth convince Percy to go help the others or they loose the battle and Gaea wins. Now, Percy hasn't made any promise (except for the "we'll be together"), so I think this refers to Leo. He is the one who met Nemesis and she told him that to win something, you must make sacrifice something else (to win the GW2, someone will have to sacrifice his/her life, as Luke did in TW2) and that he would always be the seventh wheel. On top of that, at the end of MoA, he promised he would do anything to get Percy and Annabeth out of Tartarus, because he felt responsible for they fall (he opened the fortune cookie and Nemesis asked for their sacrifice). So, I think that, somewhere during the battle, Leo will momentarily be unable to fight. That's when Percy will have to sacrifice Annabeth. Once Leo recovers and realizes what Percy did, he will think how it is his fault that Percy had to sacrifice Annabeth and how his life was less important than Annabeth's, because she would be a lot more missed than himself (i like Leo, really, but he is too much like Hephaestus and he knows that he will be missed but not nearly as much as Annabeth), so he will go inside Tartarus and push Annabeth out right before she manages to seal the Doors from the inside. Then, moments before Gaea awakes, Annabeth or someone else - perhaps Nico or Hazel? - will close the Doors from the outside. So, monsters will stop coming back so quickly and Gaea will loose the war. Someone wrote that Rick wants to make a fifth book. Well, if that's the case, perhaps in HoH demigods will seal the Doors of Death and the line about the fall of the world and the final confrontation with the giants will take place in the next book. So, what do you think?

Leos_girl I think this is the saddest topic on earth right now. After reading the article and the comments, I'm literally crying. I'll admit. I've speculated as well. But I did not know that Rick said that not everyone was coming home (though, have any of you thought that that could mean they just stay in Europe or something? Yeah, unlikely). Honestly, the only three people I think are possibilities for staying in Tartarus are Frank, Hazel, and Leo. My logic is thus: Hazel is supposed to be dead, right? She'd be like, I've served my purpose, and all. Then sweet Frank wont let her do that, so he'll do it instead. And then the seventh wheel thing and umm . . . you know---Leo. It's going to break my heart so much!!! I just know it is. I wish that someone didnt have to stay in Tartarus. Or if it was someone who could get back through. Also. I realize it might be more interesting to people if there were break-ups, but I really, really, really, really hope there isn't one because everyone is just so adorable.
