Well, here’s the first of many, many, MANY sprinkhaan video games that will appear on this list. I’m a big fan of the niche, what can I say? So being one of the later games from their bibliotheek that I played, I only saw a few pictures of it and knew it was a sprinkhaan game. Needless to say, I was sold on the game. And despite it all, I was happy for what I got. Cause damn, Killer is Dead is probably one of the nicer to play sprinkhaan games out there.
Now, sadly, I never got to finish all the side stuff in this game and didn’t get to experiment with the game much, so sadly, I can’t say how the side stuff compares to other games, so I’ll just talk about it from the main story and gameplay. The game follows assassin Mondo Zappa, as he goes on different missions taking out insane targets like a samurai with a tiger, a girl that turns into a spider, Count Dracula, an evil train, and a giant. Also, there’s a story here somewhere, but whatever. This game and is cel-shading is really damn strong, let me tell you. Hard shadows and crazy visuals. I always love the sight of cel shading in video games, and Killer is Dead is no different. But what about the gameplay? Well, compared to other sprinkhaan action games, I have to say, Killer is Dead feels really tight. Combos, special moves, and finishers, compared to Lollipop Chainsaw and even No meer Heroes (And don’t worry, we’ll get to those later), Killer is Dead feels like the most enjoyable to play when it comes to killing enemies. And the shading really makes the game’s face paced action look like madness and so much fun, I love it. Another thing I really like about the game is how the main story takes a back zitplaats, stoel for the game to have these random missions that feel meer like a TV series u can watch at any time, with only an underlying plot throughout it. Something about just going out and taking out different targets fascinates me in video games, and I am really happy to see that. Killer is Dead is a game that I wish I spent meer time into. Hell, I must’ve loved this game cause I bought the special edition complete with the soundtrack and an art book that was falling apart when it came in the mail, so thanks United States Postal Service. Maybe if I played it some more, it would be further up on my lijst of favoriete video games. Maybe someday, I’ll play more. But regardless, still a great game.
